The transfer gossip has been going for weeks now. We've heard to death about many players, Rashford, Garnacho, Gyokeres, Isak, etc. And before that, lots of talk about TAA, Salah, before they did or didn't commit their futures.

But, one player that I've barely heard anything about is Grealish. Have I just somehow managed to miss all the speculation over his future, or has he genuinely become the forgotten man / the media can't sell stories gossiping about City players?

Who wants a 30 year old (in September) on 300k a week who's not been performing? He's got like 3 years left on his deal and probably wont want a pay cut... not many suitors out there for that sort of money

Liverpool have spent €309m so far this summer. If that is their ceiling then blimey it won't be retaining much heat in the winter. It's a long way up.

We spent next to nothing last summer , earned a bucket load over the season

And still nowhere near the levels of other teams

What’s the record for spending in one summer, anyone know? This has to be close.

464 euros by Chelsea - think they also have the most spent in Jan as well

At the moment there are still 5 windows with more spent than this one

I don't know how to word this properly but a club that's qualified for Champions league football should feel comfortable that they can keep their best players, without worrying they'll want out. If they can't keep them then what chance have the rest of us got? We'll be also rans more than we are now.

There's always been a hierarchy but just seems to me that the gap has got even wider. Finishing 7th is going to be like winning the league for the rest of us.

I think the issue for clubs like Newcastle, Villa (and I mean no disrespect to those clubs) etc is that it is unlikely that players like Isak have grown up dreaming of putting on those clubs shirts. United are a complete and utter shambles but they still have the pull of players wanting to wear the shirt. If you look at it logically there is absolutely no reason that Mbeumo would choose United over Newcastle for example but he did with the reason given that he grew up supporting United and it was a dream of his to play for them. It's probably the only thing stopping us actually sinking deeper into the mire in that we can still persuade players to take a chance based on our history etc etc.

In terms of Isak moving we'll have to see. If he wants to to stay in England most of the top clubs have bought in strikers and United wouldn't be able to afford him given he's still got a good contract length so Newcastle can afford to stand their ground. I was speaking with one particularly optimistic Liverpool fan who is hoping that they can use Ekitike in a deal to bring in Isak, poor chap won't have even unpacked his bags if this fan has got anything to do with it!!

It is a good point that many will conveniently miss. Ass soon as a high profile team falls down the table, and miss out on Europe, many fans / pundits seem to pin all their arguments on the whole "why would a player want to go to a club not is Europe", as if being in Europe or league position the previous year is what all players primarily make their decision on. With the only other factor beyond that being money.

If I was a brilliant footballer, and Real Madrid or Barcelona has dropped down to the bottom half of La Liga for a few years, will that impact my decision when a transfer comes up? Will I prefer to go to Real Betis or another lesser known club who are flying high at the time, finishing 4th or 5th the season before. Or, could I be tempted by Real Madrid or Barcelona? I genuinely think I'd rather go to Real Madrid or Barcelona. They may not be in Europe. But, they probably have 10-20 times more fans around the world than the top la Liga sides at that current time. They probably play in higher capacity stadiums. I'll still get paid handsomely. And, if things go well, I could become a legend. What is not to like about that?

I'm not even a Real Madrid or Barcelona fan. If I was, even more chance I'd go there. Given there are a lot of fans of Man Utd around the world, the probability is high that a reasonable number of top footballers may have at least had a soft spot for Man Utd growing up.

All that being said, I've literally no idea what floats Isak's boat, and have no reason to think he'd want to come to Man Utd. And, even if he did, I don't think we could afford him.

Rumour has it (my rumour) that Isak was waiting until Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal signed the strikers they needed so he wouldn't need to reject them and allow United a free run at him..... 👀

Maybe he is a huge Sunderland fan, and feels now is the right time to make the move now that they are in the PL

If Nunez leaves and the loss of Jota we need another striker.
Won’t suprize me if it’s Isak.

Come on Arn get your check book out for a complete CF one of the best in world footy for me

Seems strange that Newcastle were after Ekitike,he signs for Liverpool & then Isaac wants a move.
Surely if he’d said this last week Liverpool would have been more than happy to let them have Ekitike & take Isaac, leaving Newcastle with Ekitike +£40m.
Can’t really see where else Isaac will go?

Depends what his agent has been saying.

Saudi Arabia.

They can afford the £150m transfer fee. They can afford the £300k/wk wages that it has been reported Isak (or his agent) wants. Newcastle have seemingly offered him £200k but he turned it down.

Despite me not wanting to lose Isak to a competing PL side (or perhaps even a European side who we might face in the CL) I cant help feel it a crying shame if he just chases money in a footballing backwater rather than playing his trade in the biggest footballing window in the world.

I would laugh my socks off though if he did move to Saudi, and not to one of the agitating teams who have been whispering in sympathetic media outlets ears.

For some reason Saudi never crossed my mind.
If they offered £150m I’d snap their hand off.
He’s good,but he’s not unreal.
I don’t ever see him winning the Ballon d’or.
