I was hoping Everton might go in for him. Clever player.
My lad pointed something out which I never knew. City sold Cole Palmer to Chelsea and that’s worked out well for him and City. However Mcatee played more games for City scored more and assisted more so should he go for more.
Come what may I would have loved him To play at City but he won’t get game time. All the best to him.

Pretty sure we're due 10% of that too.
Don’t spend your £4m all at once mate 😅

Absolutely horrible few days to be a forest fan 😂😂 new shirt is nice though 🙃

Definitely some snakey behaviour behind the MGW Move as it’s literally come from nowhere (he was in all of the new shirt promotional stuff which they’ve had to quickly re-edit and splice together since this morning as their teaser from this morning is not referenced in the release video from this evening at all).

Does mean, with amortisation that we can spend about £150m or more on players this season and be safe from PSR, so hopefully the recruitment team have a plan in place 😬😬

Might not have known his true value when they signed him I suppose?

I’ve no idea if he’s signed a new deal since he’s been there but if he has they messed up 😂
Word is that he hasn’t wanted to, so in essence the clubs hand has been forced otherwise we’d end up with a TAA situation (only has 2 seasons left on his current contract)

Didn’t expect him to retire here but no harm in signing a new, improved contract, with an improved release clause (which the club were going to give him) so that we benefit as much as him when he makes that move (even if it was this summer)

£150 million in the bank.😳 £70 Mill and Mcatee is all yours. Only fair you wanted £100 million for MGW. 😁👍

Palmer played 41 games for Man City , McAtee has played 34

McAtee 7 goals and according to transfermarket 0 assists

Palmer 6 goals and 4 assists

Elliot should be going for a significant amount then if Palmer is the baseline

Slept on it, and apologise to all the Wolves fans who warned us about Gibbs-White 😆

If there was really "no place he'd rather play" (which he said on camera less than 3 months ago), he could have done a Grealish and signed a new contract when offered by the club, with a higher release clause and left with everyone's blessing, but didn't, and he's left at the first opportunity at detriment (both financially and in footballing terms) to the club.

I'm absolutely livid...and what's worse is he ALWAYS scores against us, so is 100% scoring when we play them and will whip out the fingers in ears celebration in front of the Trent End.:LOL:

Very good point. I think they'll give it another year though due to the owners. Enrique has done such a fantastic job but I think the culture of the club shifted after Mbappe left.

Would like to see him at Man Utd for a proper rebuild next summer!

With both Elanga & MGW seemingly on the move do you see other players also leaving?
personally I think it could be a tough season for you guys. Europe to compete in on top of the league games you need to add numbers but also quality to improve the squad

Hopefully Anderson and Danilo step up to fill the gap, avoid injury and we don't miss him too badly. They're both potentially at least as talented.
I don't blame MGW for being tempted away after Tuchel ignored him and suggested he has to be playing Champs League. Spurs though. 🤮

If Spurs get MGW and Kudus that’s two very good signings
Never seen us do business this early before either. Two solid signings and it's not even August yet.

Does propose a bit of a 'who starts' dilemma. Of course you need two strong players in every position, but when Kulusevski was one of our better players last season - him and Kudus both lefties playing off the right primarily. If MGW is to play number 10 then I'm not sure where that leaves Maddison either.

Would love to see us pick up a proper holding midfielder, as that's the area where we most needed an upgrade in my opinion. Bissouma hasn't been totally convincing.

How do you mean? The most surprising thing for me was apparently we just stumped up his release clause right off the bat, which sounds like Daniel Levy must have been drunk or something.

Without going too much into it and to (try to) summarise;

- Club have been actively trying to get him to sign a new deal for months which would have paid him more and secured the club with a higher release clause
- He's chosen not to do this and instead his agent has touted this (previously unknown to literally everyone except those present at the contract signing, apparently) release clause to other clubs in the last few days to force a move.
- Spurs have activated it and he's gone without so much of a hesitation having previously stated that "there's nowhere else he'd rather be" after the club celebrated his 100 appearances in a Forest shirt.
- The club have deleted ALL evidence of the new shirt teasers they put out yesterday morning as it turns out Gibbs-White was heavily involved in the promotional content they'd been creating for the shirt release. If they had ANY inkling of him leaving, they'd have left him out of this entirely, rather than having to panic re-cut and botch a video together for the shirt release last minute yesterday.
- I'm also not so sure they'd have sold Elanga if they'd known that they'd be getting a good chunk of profit for Gibbs-White with a sale.

I get that this happens all the time in football and it's just business - but still doesn't sit well. you still have the odd few loyal players (see Bruno Fernandes) and I thought Gibbs-White was different after we welcomed him and gave him a home after Wolves fans scathed him and his other half all over social media (and at games).

It's not him leaving that's the issue, he was always going to leave at SOME point - it's how he's gone about it.

We've just secured Neco and Ola Aina to long term contracts, which is massive. The only other question mark is CHO, who is (or was, at least!) close to re-signing.

We needed 7-8 upgrades for the squad to allow us to rotate and compete week-in-week-out this season with the extra fixtures....and looking on the plus side, we now have a comfortable amount of money to do that without PSR worry.

Wissa has, apparently, told Brentford he wants to leave for Forest, so if we can get him for less than the £50m they want (which is a ridiculous fee, but should come down if the player wants to leave), then we immediately have a proven impact player in his prime who had more goals than Elanga and Gibbs-White combined last season.

Despite his silly broccoli hair, Harvey Elliot would slot straight in and has rapport with Anderson from the Euros - same with McAtee (who I'm not as sold on, but could still be a great player with regular game time).

We're still interested in Douglas Luiz and Richard Rios to bolster the midfield too.

I also think it's likely we change formation to a 3-4-3 and won't "need" a number 10 (which is where MGW played primarily).

we're light on the right wing without Elanga but are linked with a few solid replacements (although replacing his pace will be near impossible - but not necessarily required if we don't just play low-possession counter attacking football)

I don't think, with the extra fixtures, we'll finish anywhere near as high as we did last season, but hopefully we can bring in enough good players to see us mid-table comfortably and see what happens in the ECL.
