You are correct in that assumption, the guy is absolutely destroying the club 🤦🏻

Is there any likelihood of getting him out any time soon?

Wednesday is a great club. Excellent levels of support and long history - one of the oldest clubs I believe. Always had a soft spot for them, would be great if it got into the right hands.

He’s already turned down 2 offer from a US group, described them as derisory iirc. The fella who just sold Palace is also interested but his other team have just been relegated for financial issues albeit of a different nature.
The ground is crumbling, great manager going, half the team will leave this week, even a new owner won’t be able to work miracles.

Is the owner just keeping the money for himself ?

Just done a bit of reading about it. It seems like a glorified "form filling" exercise and that's all. It checks for criminal convictions and sports bans but it doesn't check for source of wealth or proof of sustainable funding and in no way evaluates a person's ability to run a football club or scrutises their strategy and plans for it.

Dai Yongge (Reading FC) passed it, despite a track record of late payments and financial mismanagement. There were concerns about Dejphon Chansiri (Sheff Weds) before he took ownership. And the guy who owned Bury FC passed, despite admitting he didn't even know he owned the club initially and had no funds to sustain it!

So yes. Some serious issues!!!!

What's happening at Wednesday is very similar to what happened to us. The only difference is the Wednesday owner is an attention seeker and very public. The money has clearly ran out, he's vastly overvaluing the club which is stopping a sale and it doesn't look like his ego will let him leave unless he gets a large offer. They will start to be hit with fines and points deductions which is unfair on the fans as this is an owner issue and I can see it dragging on for a year or two untill he finally cuts his losses and sells.

Just when the EFL have got our problem sorted along comes another huge mess.

Looks like Villa are going to be the latest club to side-step PSR rules by selling their women's team to themselves.

Don't blame them for doing this in the slightest. Hopefully a few more will follow and slowly but surely everybody will realise what an absolute farce this entire process is and the regulations will get ripped up and thrown away.

Won't hold my breath though.

Can Man Utd sell Antony to themselves?

Frankly, the moment Chelsea were allowed to get away with it was a green light for every other club. Why not? Why should only Chelsea be able to play the system? The rules are not fit for purpose and the more clubs that slip sales like these through the cracks, the more it shows.

Forest formed a netball team in 2024. While several football clubs do have links to netball teams, I believe only Forest and Birmingham City have one which is fully integrated to the football club and bears the football club's branding.

Call me a cynic, but if Forest get close to breaching PSR again it wouldn't surprise me at all if the netball team is involved in avoiding it somehow.

Clubs can basically sell anything

Madrid have been selling their training ground to the local government for decades

Fully back the Villa's business dealings. Why not just join Chelsea in finding and exploiting dumb loopholes!

Hopefully this now means were not looking to offload anyone Emery does want to keep.

No issue with any ins and outs so long as Emery is making the call, full trust in him.

Fingers crossed this also means we will now look to start buying some players too before Chelsea sign them all.

The odd thing about this is that if City had broken FFP rules or it looked like they going to break ffp rules, why did they not sell the women’s team to themselves 🤔

Who knows what city have done. At the current rate, none of will be alive to hear the outcome. It's ridiculous that there is still no end in sight

Even I don’t know what is going off and have followed it a fair bit.
I have gone on record and said I think City have overspent to get where they are.
But the bottom line. It is a minefield whichever angle you look at it.
City were accused of inflating sponsorship deals, yet are now on the world’s stage in a tin pot comp having already banked £50 million. Yet getting worldwide exposure. How do you actually evaluate what is a good or bad sponsorship deal. When it is all hypothetical future results and getting to finals and winning titles.
Investment companies now have shares in City, yet why would they invest in City if there is a chance that city could be relegated and playing Matlock Town ( anytime between 2026-2040).
Etihad Airways are going on the stock market and they have been accused of financing City. Yet when they are floated there books are wide open for all to see. If there’s anything naughty to see, it’s a massive own goal by City.
The more I read, the bigger my headache.
