My mate has just been told that his 11 yr old sons football training has been cancelled this weekend at 9am, because temperatures are predicted to exceed 20 degrees. The coach said that is was better to be safe than sorry.

It amazes me how kids from Spain or Brazil get so good at football, they must never train.

When we get weather like this, it reminds me of the day several years ago I picked my daughter up from primary school. It was a beautiful summer day, sunny and about 22 degrees.

I asked her if she had enjoyed playing out at lunchtime in the lovely weather. Her reply? They weren’t allowed because it was too hot, and because the teachers were not allowed to apply sunscreen to those children whose parents had been too stupid to do so.

There are times I hate the UK.

(Typed as I sit with a beer in the south of Spain where it’s roasting and life continues as normal).

That I think is the nub of the issue. I don't know anyone who can go from 14 degrees ambient to 28 degrees without suffering for a little bit until used to it.
I think there's a typo in the coach's communication, and actually means 30 degrees.
If you are implying the coach implicated in the post I originally posted, no typo. Training was meant to be 9am to 10am. Forecast was around 20 degrees at 9, getting up to 24 degrees by 10. It may reach 30 degrees by 5pm tomorrow in Lincoln

It is no big deal for me, not my kid.

I will be playing in a golf competition. I'm buzzing even more now, because if I get dehydrated I can sue the club for putting me in danger ;)
I played yesterday and went up for a butty and drink afterwards and then felt a bit nauseous so said i was going to the toilet, got up and then felt a bit faint so sat on a table and the next thing i know i'm coming around on the floor surrounded by people, paramedics come out and blood pressure was in my boots so had to go to hospital for bloods etc, kept in for 5 hours and then sent home with a clean bill of health.
Got a phone call off a committee member last night asking if i was alright and also got a text message off the chairman of the committee who is on holiday in Spain asking the same so must have got them worried .
Have put it down to sunstroke although i have played in far higher temperatures than yesterday, went out at 8 in the morning and off by 11-20 so hardly blazing sun !!!

Not been around for a while on here, but the Liverpool supporters will be keen to learn that our fantastic skipper Marc Guehi is rumoured to be close to joining. He has a year left on his contract and we have a replacement lined up, so could happen soon.

Marc is class, on and off the pitch. A leader who does all his talking on the pitch. He is the future England captain and you are signing a quality player with lots of years ahead of him.

Watching Marc life the FA Cup (there you go I've mentioned it for the first time on this forum) was for me an amazing moment and we could not have wished for a better person to be our captain and leader. He deserves to win more than we can probably offer, although I hope we can add to the FA cup at some stage (but tbf even if we don't I'll still be smiling)

ps. He might make his debut for Liverpool against Palace at Wembley on the 10th August in the Community Shield. For the Brighton and Millwall supporters out there, this is a traditional event that happens when you win a major trophy ;)

Looks like we are selling Quansah for £40mil to Bayer and then looking at Guehi and with him being HG means it’s a good signing

Yes spot on.!
I struggled with the heat today in an open at Leigh GC.
On the couch now I’m still knackered absolutely drained.

It’s not football weather !
