Yep, you'd think so. Possibly a good result for Chelsea given he's been a flop on the scale on Anthony (albeit seems to have gone under the radar). This way they can cancel his contract and won't be stuck with this wages.

At least we can tell it wasn’t performance enhancing drugs he was on

Would they not suspend his pay but hold onto his registration? Surely there is a clause in footballers contracts that cover these types of suspensions and their consequences. For Chelsea in particular, they have been there before.

Looking it up, he signed a 7 1/2yr contract in Jan 23, with a 1yr extension option. They won't want to throw away all of the transfer fee if they can avoid it.

It’s a lot of money they would have to write off

They maybe able to cancel his transfer etc but the fee will still be on the books over that period of the contract

If he isn't playing for 4 years then they are already writing a lot off. No doubt his transfer fee is being paid over that length of time, ouch. Even then, he ends the suspension, what is his value? It's a painful one for Chelsea, however you look at it.

All of the above assumes the test results are correct etc

Right, who was it who called it and said Cherki v Wirtz would be Haaland v Nunez all over again??

View attachment 58495

As with the Nunez - Haaland comparisons of which most were in Man City’s fans heads it was also mainly based on Nunez scoring in the Charity Shield etx

Cherki is a player who had a decent season last year and got a few highlights towards the end

Shouldn’t be any fair comparison to Wirtz who has been around a few more years at the top level now

That is because Chelsea seemed to spend mega money on about 782 different players, so it is easy for any of them to go under the radar if they don't work out :ROFLMAO:

Besides, apart from Chelsea fans, does anybody really give much thought to Chelsea? I think they are one of those clubs that fans will pay attention to if they are competing at the top, otherwise they are just a background club that nobody really thinks about, apart from the odd banter like remark

To be honest it was more of a comment on the media's obsession with United and players 'flopping' when on large wages. Anthony was constantly a £80m flop, 'worst buy in Premier League history' etc etc. Chelsea paid over £80m (inc bonuses) for a player who has been equally useless but no headlines. Another good example is the Mbeumo salary, started off at £140k and last look he was on around £250k and will probably increase to £800k should we sign him. Liverpool sign Wirtz on pretty mega money and neither the transfer fee or the wages (circa £200k a week) are headline news. Goes to show which clubs sell papers I guess.

I’m pretty sure a lot of the headlines when it comes to Wirtz have been about his transfer fee and the fact with adds it will break the transfer record

His wages are reported to be below a number of players at the club.

But th headlines all over the place about Wirtz have been the fee we will pay

I suspect Mudryk hasn’t been in the headlines because he hasn’t played - he has been banned since November

And comparing the two

23/24 - Antony - prem - 1 goal 1 assist , 3 goals 2 assists all comps

24/25 - Antony until Jan - 0 goals and assists in Prem - 1 goal all comps

Mudryk

23/24

Prem - 5 goals and 4 assists
7 and 4 overall

24/25 - until he was banned

none in Prem and

3 and 5 overall

It’s hard to see a play that’s going to Antony’a level of flop

I knew your comment was going to be opposed and countered in detail by somebody on this thread :ROFLMAO:

Had to delete the tables as they wrecked all over the place!!

Mudryk was invovled in an EPL goal for Chelsea every 5.8 games with Antony being around 7.7. Given the amounts paid for both player I think they can very much be put into the same category of 'rubbishness'.

Very much so

For the level of money spent you expect better - as I say one player being banned and out of the spotlight is prob why he isn’t being mentioned
But at the moment he is very much a flop

Unfortunately or fortunately Man Utd will always be in the spotlight - it’s lauded by fans when they are doing well so need to take the rough when it’s not going so well

Welcome to the Liverpool of the 90’s

Given time I’m sure they’d bounce back 😉

This is the equivalent of me being fined the £1.27-worth of 1p and 2p coins I’ve got in a glass jar on my kitchen shelf.

Still, at least the PL can claim they’ve been tough on City on this one, when they’re trying to defend the incoming farcical result of the 115 charges. 👍

They should yellow card the captain each time, make them responsible. That would start to impact over time. More than a fine, irrelevant to City.
