Out of interest, without cheating, how many Saudi Arabian clubs can people name in here off the top of their heads?

Having thought about it, I can name a grand total of zero

Everytime a player is linked to a club over there, or actually go over there, the general news is generally just "so and so linked to Saudi Arabia". The club name will probably me mentioned somewhere in the main article, but sort of hidden away and it is sort of irrelevant and random.

Any time a player is linked to any transfer outside SA, it is always about the club making the bid. When it is Saudi Arabia, it is the "league" making a bid. I bet players that move over there care very little about which actual club they go to, just as long as they get paid the big bucks. It all seems very random as to who goes where.
Me to none!

I think there was/ is a genuine interest. He came last year to view a house we built in Altrincham. Just a couple of weeks ago he got back in touch with my boss to see if we have any new Developments on the go . Make of that what you want ? Ps . Zirkzee bought 1 of the houses & Mykilenko bought the other of last year’s houses
Personally, am not to sure he is the kind of player City should take. That said I thought the same of David Silva. 😁

Saw a Tweet doing the rounds (by a Villa fan actually) along the lines of "Man Utd are now the English equivalent of Saudi Arabia. For players who want big wages but have no ambition."

Football is cyclical. Man Utd will be able to buy their way back to the big time again. It may not happen in the next year or two, but it'll happen.
I would be amazed if it is he next year or two. Who in Utds starting 11 would you put in the top five this year. Utd need a major expensive overall and two or three top five teams to have a mare. There are too many upper mid table teams that Utd will struggle against never mind top five.

They've struggled to buy their way to the top over the last decade. They'll need more than money to help them do that. They'll need to make better football decisions

Was the VAR an idiot for even thinking he would need to review it?
Well...if you had Portuguese tinted glasses on you might have made a case for obstruction that prevented the defender getting to Wirtz...but....yeah...the VAR official I think was seeing more than actually happened.

Anyway.... all over now....another chapter written in the Ronaldo story as he scored the winner.

Decent game but Germany have issues at the back....slow and ponderous and some of the Portugal forwards just ran straight past the defenders at will....and as for up front....if Fullkrug was the answer I'm not sure that Nagelsmann really knew what the question was.

How long will a quality player sit on the bench ?
It’s a short career ,think he needs to move!
There's a club with a lovely new stadium, looking to rebuild, he wouldn't have to move house, simple to get get back to the Midlands. Come on Jack, we'll even let him pass the ball forwards and dribble past opponents again 😉

He absolutely needs to move, as it seems Pep clearly doesn't want him.

Make me wonder if "winning trophies" is always as cracked up as it is meant to be in a lot of cases. Grealish won the treble, and obviously had a whale of a time that season (and the summer after). But, he has always been a component part of a great side, no more or less important that many of the other players. He still seems quality on the ball, as he rarely seems to lose it. But, it is also all rather risk free, and Pep has seemed to sap any sort of excitement from his game.

Had Grealish stayed at Villa, or gone to another club where he was always likely to be the "main man" or one of 2 or 3 main men (still a top club), where the team's play was very much built around him, he may not have won the treble. But, he could become a folk hero at that club, with or without trophies. As long as the fans always felt they were competing, he might have felt a lot more fulfilled about his career? Sometimes think that of Gareth Bale. Lots of success at Madrid, but never going to be the main man. Had he stayed at Spurs, or gone to pretty much any other club except Madrid and Barcelona, he would have been their main man and probably adored by fans. And he'd have taken a lot more free kicks, which were quality.

When City won the treble he was a key player throughout the season to the point he played instead of Foden in the CL final - but strangely he seems to prefer Doku 🤷‍♂️

Everton , Villa , etc would be a great club to go to for him to be the main man

No thanks. Do not want him back one bit.

Id love him however he has spurs written all over him
Haha, I wish. I still think Grealish is excellent, if he leaves City it will be for another top club I'm sure. He's done ok for City, but maybe he wasn't a great fit with Pep who likes his players to play a specific way, whereas Grealish seems like more of a free spirit / free role kind of player. I would love to see him back in the England side, he used to link up so well with Kane. In fact, Bayern might even be a good fit for him.
