Haha, that's crazy. When I was young £8mil for a right back would have been seen as an obscene amount. Now they're paying that to have a right back for one month. 😂
The world record fee was £8 million in 1990, Roberto Baggio to Juve.

A top players weekly wage these days is equivalent to the world transfer record back in the late 60's. Football inflation for you. :)

Sacrificing players is something United will need to do - help reduce the wage bill , as well as bringing funds in

Suspect a few more will be leaving

It does show how silly the money is in Saudi when they are offering clubs big money for players in the twilight of careers or only short amount left on contract

The sort of money being talked about I think they’d be massively criticised for not at least having the conversation.

Bruno has always been very clear. As long as the club wants him, he is happy to stay. And if they raise sufficient revenue via other sales, I do wonder if the club may resist any sale, at least for another year.

I’m with you, though. If he stays, great. If we get a good fee, great. But I will be sorry to see him go. I was there for one of his first games at OT, a Europa League game, and I was hugely impressed from the get go. He found space where others didn’t, and saw passes others could only dream about. And his movement off the ball was something you don’t often see.

And the fact that opposition fans despise him just makes me love him all the more.

I think so.

Of course, it depends on perspective. I'm sure there will be people absolutely slating Man Utd for selling Bruno for £80 million. But if Man Utd signed a 30 year old for £80 million, the same people would slate Man Utd for spending so heavily on such a player :ROFLMAO:

Bruno’s deal is reportedly worth 300 million to him 😳. You can’t blame him or UTD given his age!

Either way, I like the idea of a rebuild. Given the dross that the team served up last year something drastic needs to change at Utd.

Is it inflation, or is it a bubble?
Surely it has to stop eventually.

I'm sure it must. TV broadcasting and globalising football so much has certainly allowed the money to flow in at a ridiculous rate. But, it is difficult to see how they can continue to grow those broadcasting opportunities as much as they have. I suppose the limitless Saudi Arabian money has made things seem that they are still sky rocketing. That being said, the 4 highest ever transfer fees were between 2017-2019.

Perhaps the bubble has already started to burst, or stabilize?

We keep saying that but

We are looking to break the Prem Transfer record to get Writz

Clubs are earning more

Money from Saudi is flooding in

will the bubble ever burst

How do you feel about that? So much money for one guy man!

So hard to live up to too!

It’s ridiculous levels of money

He is no doubt a very talented player and think if we get it over the line with the others reported it strengthens the squad significantly

I'm always hesitant about players coming from Germany though, sometimes it goes well but many struggle!

You certainly don't need much coming in, just a squad refresh and go again. Is Frimpong done?

Yeah Frimpong is done

Kerkez and Wirtz will prob be done in the next week

Then it’s a striker and maybe a CB

Prob see about 4/5 players to leave

Kellher
Kostas
Elliot
Nunez
Doak

And maybe a CB out on loan

Surely will have to move some of them on to keep funding transfers - especially if you're about to drop 120m on one dude!

In regards players coming from Germany I don’t think there is too much difference between the players coming from there or any other country

Akanji
Gvardiol
Konate
Van De Ven
Firmino
Gravenburch
Mateta
Thiago
Havertz

Long list of players that have done well
Yeah, I'd actually say Bundesliga is the most similar to the Premier League these days in terms of standard and style of play, so it's usually a decent bet.

The one you want to avoid is Eredivisie usually. 😄
