Loving all the comments about Palace getting lucky regarding Henderson not being sent off. Small team gets a lucky break normally reserved for the big clubs and the internet goes into meltdown. Bloody hilarious, congratulations Palace enjoy your big day 😁

Not really sure too many are saying Palace got lucky. What they are saying is that Henderson, as an individual, did. And that it was a shocking mistake by the VAR. Which it was. That hardly equates to the internet going into meltdown.

I am absolutely delighted for Palace. I like their brand of football, they have one or two players I’d love to see in a United shirt, and it’s fabulous to see a club other than the usual suspects win some silverware.

And play football that doesnt mean trying to pass the ball into the net

So what is the difference between Henderson getting lucky and Palace getting lucky?

I didn’t see a lot of the game as I was out. But the result did not surprise me one bit. City have struggled to break down teams this season when teams have sat back and defended well. And Palace really did defend well. There goal was quality.
Personally I am chuffed for Palace. There first ever Major trophy. There fans will be as happy as the Newcastle fans were earlier this season.
Re Henderson staying on. I am really at a loss as to what is happening with VAR. It is one of the reasons I have lost some of the love with football. He handled it outside of the box, VAR says no red and there is a valid explanation of that, whether you agree with it or not. But then there is no free kick to City.
Been nice to see other teams pick up silverware this season.

Delighted Palace won, it’s good for football different teams win trophies.

I’m biased as I’ve always disliked Peps City, such a bore to watch that type of football.

Plus it’s influenced so many teams trying to emulate their style of play and with some teams not having the quality of players to do this.

City fans rightly must love Pep for all the glory he’s brought the club but for me part of his legacy is the influence he’s had on the style of play the modern game has become.

With Palace Forrest and a few others bucking this trend perhaps we will see a change.

Palace were very lucky Henderson wasn’t sent off shocking decision by var and City would have probably gone on to win.

It was mentioned 11 times before your initial comment. There was really no discussion to be had, because everyone agreed it was the wrong decision.

Had one person thought it was correct, then that would have generated about 4 pages of debate.
Sorry to be a pain here, but my view is that there should have been a free kick for a foul, I.e hand ball.
But I don’t agree it was a red card. In the absence of Henderson striking the ball with his hand , there was no 100 percent or likelihood of Haaland scoring. If Henderson had done the right thing ( using another part of his body to play the ball - it was a fifty fifty) ,he was still in a position to do so in a manner which could have taken it away from Haaland. It wasn’t a done deal that Haaland would have continued through with the ball.
And, unlike other last-man- red- card scenarios I’ve seen, Henderson didn’t interfere with the opponent unfairly.
So, foul , yes, ball turned out to be outside the area. ( so close to the line that it’s fair to think Henderson could have believed it was in ), but a card, no.

Just my 2 cents worth😀

If the referee doesn’t whistle then the VAR can only intervene to give a red card or a penalty.
They didn’t think it was enough, there is no consolation free kick or yellow card.

That’s a poor excuse imo.
Are they saying Haaland can’t score from there 😳

If a keeper delibaretly handles outside the box it’s a red.
Dosnt matter where they are.
Been lots sent off for that.

Never a pen really poor from the officials.

Well done to Palace .🏆

On the balance of play you guys deserve to be ahead but the way it happened was ridiculous 😂
There are stats for everything now so I'm sure somewhere out there is a stat that says how many goals have come from a keepers intercepted pass or first receiver being harrassed this season. It will be a crazy number, so wasteful.
