I know this has been done to death, but I just read this comment from a Liverpool fan on BBC Sport regarding TAA’s decision to leave. The second sentence almost made me choke on my ice cold Aspall cider.

The hypocrisy is breathtaking. Doesn’t respect and class cut both ways?
Depends on if he booed him , if not then it’s a fair opinion
Not sure if he booed himself, but he said he condoned those who did.
If Real visit Anfield in the next year or so in the Champion’s League, it will be interesting to see what the reaction is then.
I suspect it will be much the same.
He'll be on the bench so it won't matter too much. Not sure if he booed himself, but he said he condoned those who did.

seem to remember Salah saying it was his last season in a interview after a game.Oh he will be in a Madrid shirt then so there is no doubt the reaction will be negative
Trent at times didn’t help himself as well
Salah and VVd were both very vocal at wanting to stay , Trent said stuff about wanting to captain the club and be there for life , then went quiet and made gestures to the fans so the discontent was bubbling away under
Its a shame because i don’t think you should boo someone wearing your shirt - and if he had scored the same people would have prob jumped up screaming
But I can understand why it happened
This is absolute rubbish. He has a contract, it's got 18 months to go, are you signing the new one yes or no, if no Liverpool try to sell him if yes then sign it. There is nothing else. If he says I don't know, i am unsure, I don't know then Liverpool need to make a decision. TAA does not need to make any decision and any decision he makes is nothing to do with Liverpool, he's an employee. trying to blame him by saying he conned the club by not signing a new contract is pathetic really. He has either signed one or not, it's not a secret or hidden or unknown. The only people to blame for TAA leaving on a free are Liverpool and your fans can boo and hiss and post all the rubbish you like it's not changing the fact Liverpool screwed up. It almost feels like woe is us...If Trent’s idea was always to leave for a free at the end of his contract then he should have told them that last year so the club then have a choice to sell him for some money , but it seems he didn’t tell them no until March - he is a local lad and for some it will grate even more so when you have players like VVD and Salah pretty putting their heart on the table stating they only want to stay
So has he played the club to ensure he leaves on a free and that way he gets the big pay off - I suspect there is something in there and it’s standard of Madrid to do it

So, Liverpool were conned? Every man and his dog knew there was a real chance of a valuable player leaving for free as his contract was about to run out. It’s not rubbish at all
Of course Trent has a decision to make - he was offered a new contract with the club , it was put on the table , but the agent kept up with “negotiations”
And yes players have run down their contract to be able to go on a free
If he knows that Madrid will pick him up for free in 12 months why waste a transfer fee - Trent just says no to leaving because he knows he gets a bigger pay day
Madrid also tried it with Davies but he in the last 6 months signed to stay with Munich , as opposed to Alaba who left on a free - you are clearly not that naive to not think Madrid aren’t tapping up players to do this - even Wenger stated up
Either way the world will still go round and we will still move on to next season with someone else there
connedSo, Liverpool were conned? Every man and his dog knew there was a real chance of a valuable player leaving for free as his contract was about to run out.
But, the brains that run Liverpool FC didn't see that coming? Or they run their model on hope, and hoped he'd stay?
If a player doesn't sign a new contract, they either want more money on the table, or they think another club will come along and give them a better opportunity. But they won't flat out confirm they are leaving, because if another club doesn't ultimately come along, you don't want to burn your bridges at your existing club. Signing a new contract at Liverpool was probably still always an option for TAA, it's just that Real were his preferred option
I was mainly responding to your comment a bit earlier, where you said TAA should have told Liverpool last year.conned
I’m very sure that the club knew there was a chance he would leave for free - that the risk the club took when they turned down the bid in Jan
Plenty players leave clubs for free
Trent imo made his choice a long time ago
Yes if it was always his intention to go to Madrid , turn down the contract offer and see if the club can negotiate a deal with Madrid for the transfer and he can go straight away ( last summer )I was mainly responding to your comment a bit earlier, where you said TAA should have told Liverpool last year.
Why?
Even if he had his heart on going to Madrid last year, things change. He could lose form, get injured, Real may end up going for other targets, etc. It would be stupid for him to tell Liverpool he is going to go.
As he hadn't signed a contract with a year to go, then ultimately his answer at that time was "no". He doesn't need to say he is leaving, simply not signing a contract extension means the answer is currently no. So, Liverpool were free to make the choice to try and sell him. They decided not to.
Yes, if he wanted to go to Madrid last summer AND Madrid were going to bid for him, then I am sure that is exactly what would have happened.Yes if it was always his intention to go to Madrid , turn down the contract offer and see if the club can negotiate a deal with Madrid for the transfer and he can go straight away ( last summer )

But, presumably this outcome was never an option, as no negotiations ever happened between Liverpool and Madrid.
In other news Taiwo Awoniyi has now been placed into a medically induced Coma.
All because of a stupid rule.
In other news Taiwo Awoniyi has now been placed into a medically induced Coma with an injury which is fatal in 30% of cases.
All because of a stupid rule.
EDIT: this is how clear it was by the way.
Was it Awoniyi the person offside ? If the flag had gone up would the collusion with the post still happened or was the offside earlier in the move ? Trying to watch it again and can’t find it
No, it was elanga offside, Taiwo sprinted half the pitch to get on the end of it (he’s on the other edge of the centre circle in our half). Was it Awoniyi the person offside ? Fingers crossed he is ok after the surgery
