My take on the TAA situation;

On one hand he's a local lad and has come through the ranks so to intentionally run his contract down and cost Liverpool £50m+ in a transfer fee is poor form. You can see why local Liverpool fans especially are hurt.

On the other hand he's played a key role in winning 2 titles, the CL and a few other cups. He's given Liverpool great value over his time there and a move to Real Madrid is one hell of a chance that doesn't come around often. The fact he'll be getting a huge signing on fee and bigger wages makes it a no brainer as a life decision.

Liverpool should carry on playing him but absolutely refuse to release him early unless a fee is involved.

I’ve seen people saying,if he wanted to leave he should have signed a new contract so the club gets a fee.

Sorry but can someone make this make sense to me 😵‍💫🤯

You want to leave your job & do what’s best for YOU,so you sign a new contract🤷‍♂️😂😂

That sums it up perfectly as usual

It’s sad to see him go for both his ability in the ball and being a local lad - he has been a vital player for us over the last 7 years

But I’m not surprised at all that he is going to Madrid for a free because that’s how they work , if it was always his intention of going then it’s disappointing especially with some of what he has said , his brother has been a big influence behind the scene and no doubt he will have the lifestyle with Bellingham there now

It’s going to be a bit of a culture shock for him there - Madrid fans are not the most forgiving and it won’t take long for them to be on his back if it doesn’t work out

I’m interested to see who the manager looks at now - Bradley looks a talent but having a few growing pains , Frimpong being touted and has. £35mil release clause. Going to miss the best passer in the prem though

To be fair that's what rice did. Got us a cool £100 million (that we wasted)

However RM have been doing this for a while to save money and just tell the player they will give them huge wages

Standard Madrid. Ruining football

Football is different to a normal job though? You don't have 60,000 people cheering you on if you complete a task in 99.9% of jobs!

At a much lower scale the same happened with us over Steve Sidwell back in 2007. He ignored all new contract talks and offers that were made to him. He then signed for Chelsea on a free and £50k a week wages. That was a lot back in those days and he probably cost us £10m from a sale had he signed.

That's partly why he isn't held in such high regard as others members of that team but he did give us great service and we wished him well. He was also joining the Champions and much bigger club after all.

Did VVD & Salah do the same as Trent?
Run their contracts down to give them a better deal 🤷‍♂️
Because their agents 100% will have used potential Saudi deals when negotiating a new contract.
But now deluded fans just believe they signed because they love the club.

But if he signed a new deal he probably doesn’t get his dream move to Madrid.
For me the club should have said when he had 12 months on his contract, sign an extension or you can leave to the highest bidder.
I genuinely don’t see what’s hard about that.

Some don’t understand that players have a lot more power now , they can just sit there and wait until the contract runs out -teams can’t force a player to leave and they aren’t going to dump someone down to the reserves when they are being paid big wages - bosman gave the power to the player

He knew that Madrid would pay any significant fee for him so it’s going for a free and he also know his signing on fee is a little bit more that way

We have seen some players sign extensions with release clauses to help clubs get a fee but he was prob told that Madrid didn’t want to pay a fee - that’s the way they roll

I think common sense would be if Liverpool offered a new deal with a decent increase and a low release clause.

But big clubs don't like to do that. It's all or nothing which has worked with Salah and VVD.

I really thought Liverpool would lose all 3, so for them to lose the less important one is actually a decent bit of business on the whole.

Keeping VVD and Mo were the two key ones and they were both very clear about what they wanted - to stay and play , that’s also what’s annoyed some - two other players being very vocal about wanting to stay at the club whilst Trent just gave hand signals to the crowd

But the only one not on the wrong side of 30

Didn’t Mo say this was his last season in a post match interview?

True but those two are so good they'd have a higher value even with a few more years on the clock!
Not sure how long Salahs contract is,but players like him seem to lose their pace pretty quick.
Some players (giggs comes to mind) do well and change their game to get a few more years.

Tbf he’s not scored a goal from open play for a while, maybe it’s already kicking in 😬😂

Salah has definitely lost his pace already IMO. He's changed to adapt and operates a similar role that Messi did towards the end of time at Barcelona. He often looks lazy and walks around but he's sizing things up and comes to life when it matters. I think he'll benefit from a world class striker next to him too. A free role on the right he can easiily do for another few seasons.

He also probably needs his minutes managing as he plays a lot of games and very rarely gets taken off early.

He has had a free role most of the season now , he was talking about it all in an interview with Carra where he was explaining how the manager has asked him to conserve his energy for the right time which is why at times he lingers around the halfway line - his game has evolved a bit more this season , still one of the best in the league if not the best
