I see this loads on twitter, people walking away from Prem football and watching their local club, for various reasons. I could never do it, if I'm not going to Wolves I'm not going anywhere. Plenty of things I can do without just choosing another club to watch.
I get that. I am only a now and then fan these days and Fulham's prices make it very expensive. I am lucky that have friends that are season ticket holders and can sometimes go if another member of the family isn't going but it really isn't viable. I have zero affiliation with an other club (with the exception of AFC Wimbledon who I use to watch with my dear departed mum when they first got into the football league) but I do have connections with a few non-league sides so it makes that urge to go and see them stronger

Mocking fans for not going to watch football is poor humour. Premier League football isnt cheap these days.

It's always the way. People moan about the "meets" not being arranged as often on here anymore. Yet like football away golf days can cost a fortune, people don't always have the free cash.

Meets can be a pain in the backside and as Smiffy can attest you can be left out of pocket by people pulling out at the last minute without sufficient warning to fill the spot. Going to football is more a straight black and white economic decision

I am not this ladies biggest fan but I do feel for her after Joey Barton did a real number on her via social media. I can see him taking this all the way to get as much of a kick from it as he can as he really is an oderous toad of a man https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cgkg8kjlp80o
Whilst I have absolutely no time for Barton or the opinions he expressed I do feel that Ms Aluko might be guilty of using him as a convenient excuse.

Prior to his intervention she had been receiving criticism of her punditry from a number of people in a more reasoned manner.

I must admit that personally I found her contributions to be much less than insightful and this was not directly attributable to her gender.

Therefore it wouldn't be entirely surprising if those responsible for recruiting pundits had made their decision prior to the evil Mr Barton spewing his bile.

As I said I wasn't her biggest fan but it seems clear (although of course only one side of the story presented) that she has suffered due to the outstanding case with Barton. As you say whether this a convenient tool to use to drop her for poor displays is hard to judge but I'd have preferrred if she had been dropped because of the level of her performance rather than being put through this

Totally agree.

I wasn’t even aware of the issues with Barton until I read the article on BBC Sport this morning. I just thought she’d been ditched because she was an awful pundit.

Barton is a prize one, that’s for sure. But I’m less than convinced his antics are the reason for her lack of punditry work.

Unfortunately Mr Barton May well be the excuse the BBC and others used to stop using her.

Aluko is a horrible piece of work who fits the professional victim to a tee. She's got a history of sending private messages to people on social media, mocking them and giving it the big one if anyone dares to call her out for being rubbish.

She even took a pop at Paddy Kenny and claimed he was jealous of her. A keeper with over 600 appearances in mainly the top two leagues and who earnt probably 100 times what she did 😅

She's been dropped because the vast majority of people don't like her, end of.

Is it unusual for any broadcaster to drop someone going through a legal battle? I doubt it.
Not all ex players make the best pundits anyway, regardless of sex, and I put her in the "poor" group.
