Was gonna ask for your thoughts on this.

Liked the guy and he did well for us when he did play. Took a massive one for the team when he got red carded against Chelsea but sadly couldn’t get back in after his ban. Did nothing wrong really, just found himself down the pecking order.

Grateful to him and wish him well. 👍

It was this transfer that really did it for j-lo, I said at the time it seemed to much, why get rid of a proven premier league midfielder for someone who yes could be good (really like soler btw) but is another one who needs to adapt. Just seemed transfer for the sake and JWP would have been perfect to bring on 70th min to grab a goal from set piece .. when ATM we are bringing on Andy Irving ..

Glad he's back. Wonder what number he will get as Summervile took his

I suspect it is a Sancho situation and he has to go whatever. Him playing well at Villa just increases the transfer fee they can quote other clubs, nothing more than that. Just imo
I agree. He hasn't played well at all for Utd when he has played for a long time. His attitude on the pitch made it appear that he wasn't working at his absolute max on the pitch, and probably not off it (not even close to it). Amorim's actions when he arrived pretty much confirmed that.

Even if he play really really well at Villa (and I've always said he has many attributes that give him a high potential, so it wouldn't be an impossible scenario), could Utd just hope that he would come back next season and have the same positive attitude? No chance for me. I want him to do well, so it increases the chances he is gone completely after this season. Maybe a double edged sword, because if a lot of fans think that, they would also probably be angry to see Rashford working like a beast while at another club, yet when at Utd he downed tools.

I'm going to guess number 8...

Well Brighton have played a blinder

We have signed Ferguson but only on loan, no option in there..so if he does well it's risky he will want to stay (he might, potter gave him debut etc) but opens bidding war

They wanted an obligation to buy in summer. We wanted an option so neither could meet straight loan

Hopefully he stays fit and bans them in

Altho he will Andy carroll MK2.. cracking on loan..sign him then injured

Mathys Tel - he was going to Tottenham, then he wasn't and now he is again!

According to reports from Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg and transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano - Tel will join Spurs on loan until the end of the season, with no option to buy.

The 19-year-old is on the way to London with his agent right now, according to Romano

Let's not forget that the player may love his time with you and tells Brighton he will only move to WH. Any other offer, he will reject. This still puts you in the strongest position, if the time goes well.

This is another of those logical move for all parties.

Thought he wanted to go to Man Utd 🤷‍♂️

I'm hoping he can stay fit. Has a bit of the kanes about him but Ashton's ankle lol haven't seen a forward like him for us since Carroll, then Ashton both injured all time but brilliant players when fit

I have heard he is a family orientated player and potter knows all this. Gave him his debut. Knows the family etc so what you say could happen

We just don't want to take the risk apparently. But where's that 70 million we bid for Duran eh? 😂 Called it

Not sure what’s happened with Ferguson

Was hot property last season

Guess he has struggled since the cruciate

Or was it a case of overhype after an early season hat trick

You know it’s bad when someone chooses Spurs over you.

He wanted United.

The issue was Spurs were willing to pay £50m for a permanent transfer. United wanted a loan deal with an option to buy. Bayern wanted any loan to include an obligation to buy. As such, United and Bayern failed to agree a deal.

That left the player, who had told Bayern he wanted out, the club wanted him off the books, and Spurs were willing to pay for him. So he hasn’t chosen Spurs over United. United weren’t an option.

The issue United have is the real possibility that, come the summer, both Antony and Rashford will be back at the club if Betis and Villa respectively don’t want them. All of which means if we stump up £50m now on a striker then PSR breaches are a distinct possibility.

Meanwhile, Man City just keep spending like there’s no tomorrow. Buggered if I understand it all, but there we are.

I cannot see why we'd be interested in Tel, he has 0 goals in 14 games for Bayern and we already have strikers that don't score. Not saying that he might not be brilliant in the future but what United really need is an experienced striker with a proven record of scoring, not another player with great potential.

With regards the Spurs deal as I understand it there is no obligation to buy and he'll be back at Bayern in the summer, they just want him to have regular game time.

I don’t disagree. The suggestion regarding Tel came pretty much out of nowhere, and I must say it’s not exactly an overwhelming disappointment to “lose out” on the signing of an unknown quantity. We’ve a habit of signing them, and look how they turn out.

I had read that the Spurs offer was £50m, which suggested a permanent deal, but now it seems unclear just what the deal will be. We will see.

I still like Hojlund, but for whatever reason he is really struggling and Amorim does not seem to favour either him or Zirkzee. In the absence of those two, I really fear for the rest of this season unless a rabbit is pulled from the hat in the next few hours.

Levy has had to go for a lie down , that’s 3 players he’s signed off on this window.
He likes a last day deal and a strange one after Tel turned us down before.

I also like Hojlund, I feel sorry for him given the situation he finds himself in. In an ideal world (and I do mean ideal) he would have been brought in at the same time as someone like Kane. He could have been understudy, no pressure and developed his game. Instead he was thrown in at the deep end with the worst United team in living memory, almost no service and expected to score goals. His confidence must be shot at the moment. As you say, the difficulty is this short term fix which hurts us in the summer with the PSR calculations. We've rarely benefited from a short term buy in the winter so it's good to see we're not following the same pattern. This season is a write off, there won't be any European football next year unless we with the Europa League so it's just a case of getting it over with and seeing what we can do in the summer.
