There was an interesting chat on the radio commentary today. Forget who utd might persuade to come, what is there to offer right now apart from money, what is going to keep the likes of Fernandes at the club? He wants to win titles, play CL each year. That isn't happening in the near future, how long will he wait? It was an interesting thought.

It’s the same situation we had many times - without CL football it’s very hard to persuade players to join , and also keep the best players - offering huge wages maybe help

Need to have some very very smart recruitment over the next 18 months

That said I think it's good football has moved on from those days and it's more about the football than who could have ten pints and still nut someone

Oh, Brian! Expecting Arsenal to be humble is almost as unrealistic as me asking fans of other clubs to be sympathetic towards me because my team are a shambles!

Every player has a decision to make, whatever club they are at. What are their goals and ambitions, etc.

If Bruno believes that United will improve under Amorim, with new players will coming in, then he might feel that is more ambitious than being at a team where winning is almost inevitable? Or, maybe he feels improvement is impossible in short term, and want to leave where winning is very much easier?

Either way, no player is bigger than the club. Especially at Utd, none are exactly crucial to success. So, assuming Utd want him, but he wants to leave, they just just try and sell him as early as possible before his contract runs out in 2027. I'm sure we will at least know more in a year, because I guess that is the time Utd would look to offer him a contract extension. But, at 30 years old now, who knows what will happen. I can just as easily see Utd wanting to sell him as him wanting to leave.

Have to say this does feel like a deal that is better for United than Villa?

No doubt he’ll replace the minutes Duran had, sat on the bench playing second fiddle to Watkins. And definitely seems a much for fitting option than the likes of Barcelona where he seemed to be aiming!?
