I have a memory of him trying to take a throw in with Pele stood obstructing him. The Ref ruled "get on with it" so he bounced the ball off Pele's head back into touch. Pele walked away, Dennis took another throw in.

Reading Denis Law's obituary in the Times and reflecting on his life and career. Like most footballers of his era he was poorly renumerated for his talents it's quite ironic that he died the day Haaland signed a 9yr plus contract for ab astronomical sum. Great player though he is he's no Law.
Then we turn to one of Law's successors at OT, Marcus Rashford. Big things made of him scoring 20 goals a couple of sessions ago which seems to have led to his sense of entitlement and feeling of being hard done by when dropped. Would Denis have sulked? Not a chance. Knuckled down got on with it would have been his way.
Denis got transfer listed asking for £10pw rise by Busby though was paid it under the table anyway. Compare that to the shenanigans of the Liverpool trio holding out for stellar pay increases. And Rashfords 350kpw when really he wouldn't have been in the same dressing room as Denis.
I know things are relative and no one wants footballers to be struggling when they retire but there's a greed taken over football that leaves an unpleasant taste.

Saddened at the loss of a proper legend of football. As soon as I read the news yesterday that goal sprung to mind. RIP Denis. Thanks for the memories.

I agree. It's just the obituary made the point that money was always a struggle for Denis throughout his career. Not through profligacy though

Did the referee just allow a Bournemouth challenge. Then, when Joelinton immediately made a foul and cause a scuffle, the ref booked Joelinton and the Bournemouth player for the original challenge, despite not deeming it a foul?

So last week Arsenal scored from a corner that shouldn’t have been a corner. Now Bournemouth have a goal disallowed coz the ball went out for a corner. Honestly the bloody game has gone mad.
