I am the only bewildered by the choice of Toney in the squad and now starting ahead of Dominic Solanke. This guy been banging in the goals all season. Toney been back 2 months and whats he done?
Solanke looks quicker, got a good touch and can finish.

I think, given the lack of options England have as a genuine number 6, and how poor Gallagher was on Saturday, Southgate had to have a proper look at Mainoo this evening. If he plays well, and he’s started very confidently, then that’s a straight pick between him and Gallagher for Germany this summer.

We have more options at centre half. It’s that simple.
