Good old city doing everyone a favour eh lol
Or Manchester gets the commonwealth games, eastlands is regenerated creating X number of jobs, the council get an income after every game and they also get Maine rd. city get a stadium in which they spent £20 million upgrading hospitality and yet we Did everyone a favour 🤔

The acadamy that once produced a team that won to many titles is now an embarrassment. When former players of Utd that have been there worn the shirt and embarrassed City to many times prefer to take there kids to Citys acadamy. Alarm bells must be ringing. Something seriously needs to happen at Utd to turn that around and I don’t just mean getting acadamy players into a Utd first team shirt, but producing players that will make over £100 million for the club like Citys acadamy has.

We won the FA Youth Cup in 2021/22 for the first time in eleven years and have since brought through Garnacho and Mainoo to be regular starters.
Embarrassment?

To be fair, Garnacho was bought in from Atletico Madrid, at 15 I think. Not quite ready made but not exactly a raw kid off the streets. Buying in the best juniors is nothing new, all the big teams do it now, but I see actually bringing through someone like Mainoo is far more impressive and a better judgement of your academy.

Why is it really a better judgement of the Academy?

Because Mainoo was brought through it fully, as I understand. Garnacho was brought through by Atletico, Utd have taken a partially produced player. Now, we don't know if Utd have improved him, he's the same or whether he hasn't progressed as hoped. How much of Garnacho is Atletico, how much is Utd?

In the case of Mainoo, he is all Utd, all Utd academy. (If wikipedia is correct, big ask, he joined utd aged 9)

That’s the same Bobb is being lauded he was bought at 16 from Norway , no different to when we bought Elliot - for me they aren’t Academy products as such

Players like Lewis and Foden were , we have players like Quansah , Danns etc

Bringing players in at 16 isn’t the same imo

Really, nice to see Utd have turned it around and made millions for the club. Ave read hundreds of pages of how Utd don’t have quality, and now one swallow has made a summer because garnacho who has been a pro for 3 years, and come through the academy. When he was bought in 2020 from Athletico Madrid for £400k is used as a shining example.

Mainoois a different kettle of fish having been at Utd since he was 9. Yet he has only played 13 games.
It hardly endorses your point of view.

Since Pep has been at City he has given 23 academy players there debut. And once more the academy has produced players that have made over £100 million from City.

Beat me to it.

If you're judging academies with this rule then most academies would be classed as failures as the vast majority of players that get picked up at the age of 8 simply dont make it. Those that do are in a massively low % bracket.

It’s a nice tag line but surely needs more context and how much different is it to other clubs

How many of those players have gone to be regulars in the team

Foden prob the main one

Lewis a few more and Palmer had a few starts

The rest being shipped out

Compare to Klopp

41 players

With players like

Jones , Trent , Bajectic , Quansah and more to come playing a lot more senior games

What part of Liverpool is Bajectic from?

I wasn't arguing that utd's academy was a failure or success. Just that Garnacho being used as an example of its success isn't right.

Can't believe there are sections of our fans who think fabainski is a better keeper than areola

Smash and grab

Get in

Ah well. I wasn’t expecting much from the Liverpool game today. Only really that we gave a good account of ourselves and didn’t roll over and make it easy for them.

Had at least two very good chances that we didn’t take. And sadly couldn’t prevent the winner, scored in the 9th minute of 8 minutes added time. ☹️

Only listened to it but sounded like you had the better chances through the game - glad to see Hudson Odoi getting back to his level

What happened afterwards with the coaching staff and owner going at the ref ?

Not great to hear the sign on chants though 🤬

It’s roughly 1% that make it to play in the PL. The vast majority of players in an academy are there to make up numbers to allow that 1% to make it. They are either then released or sold to lower league teams.
