I know people felt it was ETH's fault that Sancho was not performing, as Sancho is a very good player. Don't watch German football, but I've read reports today that he has had a nightmare start to his Dortmund return, and the media are already turning on him over there. If true, can't say I'm surprised. Another player whose attitude just seemed to stink the place out, and apparently frequently late for training.

I wonder if he was at Dortmund (originally) just at the right time, where they had put together a very good team (including the beast Haaland), and all the players sort of rode on that wave and they all looked to be top players. But, since going to another team that has not been playing well, Sancho has been found out to be a player that just isn't all people think he was cracked out to be? Watching him for Utd, he seemed to have absolutely no pace, couldn't take people on, didn't have an outstanding pass or shot or didn't look to have extraordinary movement. I'm not saying he is an awful player talent wise, but I always just felt he was a bit average really.

Nah, I watched a fair bit of Sancho at Dortmund and he was 5x the player you ever saw in a united shirt. He absolutely has the talent and ability to be a top player.

This also happens to loads of United players:

Pogba
Sancho
Sanchez
Van de Beek
Antony
Angel Di Maria
Henrikh Mkhitaryan
Schneiderlin
Zaha
Depay
Falcao

The club is a factory of making players worse.

To be fair, any big club that has been underachieving for a long time, in comparison to their spending, that could be said about them. It is incredibly unlikely that anyone could pick out players that have been awesome for Man Utd over the last decade, as that wouldn't tie up with their results.

The same, therefore, will also be true for Chelsea at the moment. A lot was expected of Liverpool in the 90's, and they underachieved. So, they were known as a factory of making clubs worse.

You look at all those signings, and you wonder how many were carefully selected, based on the type of player Man U were desperately missing at the time, and the sort of character they needed in that team. And how many were signed because an agent phoned the club, said they would come for a nice wage, and the Club got giddy and splashed the cash? Therefore, once they got to the team, they may have had a poor character, or they may not really have fit into what the team really needed, and became disillusioned.

You look at Liverpool over last decade, they desperately lacked a CB and keeper. They bought VVD and Allison. Targeted signings, worked out great. City needed pacy wing backs, and got Walker. Great signing for what they needed. Both clubs have been sensible in building teams on the most part.

Yeah, Antony isn't looking great, and injuries have been bad for Mount. But it is so far looking like Hojlund was a great signing, and Martinez is definitely one of my favourite players at the club, I just hope he gets fit and stays fit. So, there were signs that since ETH came in, there will be a bit more structure to things. And, I'm obviously hoping with the changes at the top, then things will be much more efficient moving forward.

Maybe Sancho was a great player when he was young and hungry at Dortmund the first time. But, whatever the reason, not once was I ever impressed with him since joining Man Utd. And it seems like he was even more troublesome off the pitch than on it.

Dosnt say much for United scouts.

Absolutely. Or the fact that the hierarchy completely ignore them. No idea what goes on, but there is no structure, no control. But I think 100% of people agree recruitment at Utd has been a disaster for a long time.

And it’s a huge relief to see that sorting that structure is at the centre of Jim Ratcliffe’s plans.

I'd have been surprised if their top priority was anything else.

Had he come in and said he agreed a £100 million deal for Neymar, I'd have cried. I'd have been more depressed at that than had Radcliiffe said he was going to register himself as a back up striker for Hojlund

So we know where the World Cup is going in 2034. The same patch of sand that hosted it in 2022. 🤬

Nice to see we are growing the game. 😳

Just an advance warning. This week the community managers, i.e. those that sit above the mods, have decided that any discussions about the Saudi regime/sportswashing etc will be deleted and a warning issued.

By all means discuss how playing there impacts on the season schedules, temperatures etc but please don’t bring politics in any way into the discussion. There’s always other platforms if you feel the need to go down the political route.

Please note, there was a (Saudi) political post in the LIV thread earlier this week. The post was deleted, a warning issued by a community manager.

Believe Saudi are the only people bidding for the World Cup because Australia pulled out as they couldn’t compete financially

Not sure why there needs to be an official bid ? Thought they would just announce them as hosts

It’s going to be as much of a mess as it was in Qatar maybe worse - certainly going to make a mess of the season

I don’t know where Ratcliffe is going to start. But the fact a guy has bought a minority stake in the club and is now nigh on running it ( plus his other business interests) I find odd, strange, unheard of, amusing, ground breaking, unique, pathetic etc etc etc, insert your own word.
For me where does Ratcliffe start. And this is the serious bit.

it may stick in the throat of Utd fans. But re the style of football both Liverpool and City play ( and I use them because because they are the enemy that Ratcliffe has stated). That comes from the manager Klopp and Pep. So his first decision is do Utd under Ten Haag play a style of football that is pleasing on the eye and the reserves/ academy play the same style and could drop into Utds first team style of play and feel comfortable the way Liverpools under 12’s did v Chelsea at the weekend. And the same way that Bobb, Foden, Rico Lewis and others do when playing for City. That is categorically a big fat no. So for me TH is on his way at the end of the season to be replaced by who. Who is strong enough to bring in a style of play that can revert through the first team and academy teams. Who can bring in big name players, has an eye for a young player and who is going to clear out the big headed rammel players that extract the Michael whilst kissing the badge. For me it is a player/ manager of Zinedine Zidanes stature.

Re the stadium, it is a dump.It was a dump when I got kicked out during the 50th anniversary of the Munich disaster derby game. It need Uve Roslers Grandad to have one last fly over and flatten it and do them a favour. It won’t be the first time City have done Utd a favour and loaned there ground to Utd. But they need to move out for a season or two and build a world class stadium ( with there own money) like Spurs and Citys Stadium.

The acadamy that once produced a team that won to many titles is now an embarrassment. When former players of Utd that have been there worn the shirt and embarrassed City to many times prefer to take there kids to Citys acadamy. Alarm bells must be ringing. Something seriously needs to happen at Utd to turn that around and I don’t just mean getting acadamy players into a Utd first team shirt, but producing players that will make over £100 million for the club like Citys acadamy has.

From a city fans point of view I hope none of the above happens and the way things are going I look forward to City playing Utd in Division 1. City through FFP punishment and Utd through relegation 😉

Id be utterly amazed if there isnt an option to buy the rest of the Glazer shares over the next 2-5years if Radcliffe is buying 25% then doing all the work. Maybe im wrong and it is a plaything for him but Id be very surprised he would be putting in the effort for 25% of the pie

Not everyone can take over a club thats just been pretty much gifted a spanking new stadium, only 2 clubs been that lucky so far hasnt there, cant blame Jim for chancing his arm on that one albeit he can expect to be laughed out of town

Last sentence sounds great 🤣🤣🤣

Is it worth putting these on the LIV threads so people know the censuring levels, thus not breaking the rules.

The one in the US etc should be good

But in 2030 it’s been hosted in Spain , Morocco and Portugal but also three games in South America 🤷‍♂️

It’s a shame that we don’t offer big enough brown envelopes because it’s time for it to be hosted in the Home Countries

The thing is re City moving into a big council house is it works for everyone. City had plans to extend Maine rd. Manchester City council had plans to host the Olympics and then commonwealth games but needed the stadium to be occupied afterwards. Otherwise the stadium could have been another white elephant. That’s where city stepped in after giving Maine rd to the council . That’s where the idea of building the Olympic stadium in London came from.

Good old city doing everyone a favour eh lol

Bayern not winning again, this time Kane didn’t score.

I kind of enjoying this Bundesliga season.
I don’t really want Leverkusen to win it, but I like Bayern not to win anything this season more.

And my team doing OK as well.
