I'm on my way through, no set time scale to it though!

Currently on 49, its the league 1 and 2 grounds that have slowed me down but I will get there eventually.

Annoyingly also need Luton and getting my away ticket there is very hard despite my away booking history being in the best category!
You might have to box cleverly there and maybe go to Luton v random lower league team in the Caraboa Cup. One where the home fans are not bothered about going.

Surely Newcastle V Luton would be a top game for the England manager to watch??? I'm sure there are many candidates I'm not thinking off, but a great chance to watch Anthony Gordon, who should at least be on the fringes. But also Ross Barkley. I'm sure Barkley doesn't have much of a chance due to the quality England has in those creative central midfield positions. But I honestly think Barkley is up there as one of the players of the season. Every time I watch Luton, he is like gold, and the key to all their good attacking moments. So if England get injuries to one or 2 key players in that position, he could surely be in with a shout?

Whereas Henderson, what on earth is the point? What is he going to learn about a 33 year old playing in a team he is only just come into, thus learning how to fit in with his new team mates and vice versa? And besides, what does it matter, as we all know Henderson is a 100% certainty to get picked. Maybe Southgate simply went over there to socialise with him, as he loves his banter, and Henderson invited him along to the game as a mate.
Probably went for some cake and a massage. 😉

Ah the weekly Henderson moan , it’s almost as if people ignore what’s happened over the last 2 years

It’s very clear that Southgate wants him in his squad for the Euros - not sure why people keep on being surprised by it

And Southgate will have someone watching most of the games every week now and he wlll go around the grounds

But it’s best to prepare yourself now - Henderson and Phillips will be in the squad unless either is injured
All of which is true, but why even bother flying over to Amsterdam to watch him then?? He's going to pick him regardless, there must be better uses of his time. Obviously just went for a jolly with his best mate Hendo, claim the expenses off the FA, job done.

More than anything I could do with them staying up... I reckon I could get there next year.

One things for sure, at some point I'm going to have to make some weird journeys to complete the list as a Villa fan!

As much I have liked Hendo, Inthinknhe should retire from International footy. However, we all know GS will choose his faves, Maguire and Phillips come to mind straight away, but perhaps he picks Hendo as he wants someone in the chain gin room to control the childish egos. Rashford for example.

You've missed the point of this latest discussion then. Because it wasn't about whether Henderson should go or not (and we already know what people think on that matter). It was about why Southgate flies to Amsterdam to watch Ajax, to watch a player that, by your own account, is going to get picked regardless? And, as Southgate has a team of people that watch games, then send one of them over. Send the work experience guy over to do it, because it is only a tick box exercise, where we know the result anyway.

That would mean the England Manager, who picks the side, could then go and do a more critical job of viewing players that are on the fringes, and on the verge of getting a spot.

While I see the point you are trying to make, at this stage viewing those players is a waste of time for GS.

He's likely leaving the position after this summer so our future is rather irrelevant for him, he just needs to be sure that his trusted players are all ready. I don't think this trip is something seriously weird, its only one game week! I think it'd be more weird for him to not go and see a player he is 99% likely to pick

I guess he didn't go and watch him in Saudi because he really would've taken some heat then. So he just wanted a catch up.

I can see why he will still pick him , and if Henderson thinks he can still do a job then can see why he will still go

Why is it if such a big deal if Southgate went to see him , it was prob Ajax’s biggest game of the season and he prob felt that he could pop and watch him and then fly back. People are only reacting because it’s Henderson - it’s not a big deal , he popped over to see him playing in a one game - what’s the big issue

Funny, I have the same feeling about Liverpool fans reaction to Paul Tierney :)

Managed 82 grounds in my time mostly with Fulham and the odd one with my Wimbledon mates. A lot of the teams I went to have either changed grounds or are now non-league and so not the same as the current list

It is forever changing, glad I have done the old and new west ham, spurs and soon Everton grounds.

Shows how fast things change, we were saying the same years ago about Derby, Southampton, Sunderland etc

It does to be fair!

I do love an older ground too, I don't like the modern bowl type stadiums as much as the classic 4 stands. They're seriously impressive though. That stand in the Spurs ground is class too.

There is a famous saying in football, "no player is bigger than the club"

That is clearly untrue when it comes to Inter Miami. This was demonstrated when a near capacity crowd in Hong Kong went to watch them in a pre season friendly. Messi did not play due to injury, resulting in fans booing and wanting a refund. And the government being extremely disappointed, as Messi had been contracted to play at least 45 minutes.

I got up to 50 odd a few years ago but a lot of the grounds have been replaced. At the moment I'm on 38 but will tick another one off this week! The only bonus of getting relegated is a lot of new grounds to visit. I've got friends who support other teams so will tag along to some of the away days with them. I also like the idea of picking some big fixtures and local derbies to get grounds done when I've got no connection to the teams.

Impressive going your sister getting up to 60. What era was that? Funnily enough I've not been to many of the grounds you listed there. Did Brighton's old ground but haven't had the pleasure of the Amex.

Since I put the boot into him he's scored in 4 games in a row. Anyone else you'd like me to have a pop at? :ROFLMAO:
I'm on about 72 at the last count and each year I say I'm going to try and do a few, but only get the odd chance like when I went to Exeter vs Ipswich in the carabao cup a few years ago, because I was down there on holiday and the missus is fine going to an obscure footy game. I also went to Joey barton's Bristol last year, same again when on hols.

1 a year may get me up to 92 by about when I get to 70!!!

I dont care if its a new ground or not, if you do 92 different clubs, that fine in my eyes, although looking at some that I've done like Chester city they aren't even in the football league any more. For years you didn't have a lot of change between the football league and conference etc, but lots of it now.

Same as you, I've only done the Goldstone ground at Brighton, and the old grounds at Soton, Arsenal, Spurs, West ham.

30 odd in Europe, 2 in the US and about 6-7 Scottish for fooball.

Weirdly enough I'm on 72 of the top 100 in GM's list - think I may do the top 100 golf before the 92 football.

Always a chance that a few tie together!
