Missed the first half but we never looked like scoring there.

Some very poor defending.
You were really poor in the first half. Only arsenal having Havertz or anyone resembling a striker prevented it from being 3 or more. Then they gifted you a goal right at the end of the half, think your gift but marginally not as bad 😆.

Odd performance from Liverpool, very underwhelming.

Oddly, not a single one in my Super 6 (there are 31 all told) went for an Arsenal win.

I think we have had some very good perfromances this season but we have had a lot of very average ones as well.

Thought the red card was a tad harsh.
Given what he had let go in the game.

Both were yellow card offenses, certainly were softer yellows given in the game. Typical Anthony Taylor though, loses control early, gets worse and worse and then every offense becomes a yellow card as he spirals

I don’t think the first one was , it was a very soft foul both grabbing each other , who ever fell down first was getting the free kick but it’s never a yellow imo ,but was standard Taylor
Thought Liverpool were starting to look very good in recent weeks. Odd performance today.

It’s our first really poor performance of the season , missed Dom and Nunez from the start , and we got what we deserved - got to bounce back now

He tried to let things go but then everything got a bit heated and he had to start getting the cards out. The players are at fault there, I don't know why people blame the ref in those situations

I don't think Konate can complain, he knew what he was doing for the second yellow, the ref had little choice.

because it happens every time with Anthony Taylor. the bar for what is a card changes as the game goes on and he is incessantly inconsistent. If its a card in the 90th minute it should be a card in the 1st minute

I don't think it should work that way. I don't mind a bit of leeway early on, within reason, but if fouls start to build up the ref has to draw a line eventually. Once the line has been crossed then they have to be consistent.

That's not to say no cards early on but I understand trying to hold off where possible.

But that causes situations like todays and many other games. How do players know where the line is if the ref changes it as the games goes on (the laws dont change!)

Ref the game properly, if its a foul early give the foul rather than playing on, if its a yellow card book the player rather than warning them. Also, in the last 20 minutes, not every foul is a yellow card!

Not sure if its true but seen a post that the 2 longest deadball situations to be taken were by liverpool today, yet arsenal got 2 yellows for timewasting. Its getting to the point they need to say you have 20 seconds for a throw/fk etc and a clock on every time as the inconsistency is awful

@fundy what situation would you say was a problem today?

let too much go early on, booked far too many players second half and was totally inconsistent on how long a throw/fk should take

saying that for Taylor Ive seen far far worse!

But was today really a game that had 9 yellows and a red (and I say that as someone who won money betting on cards!)

Think at the start Taylor let too many little fouls go and then was very early on dishing out yellows for those soft fouls

Whites delaying of the throw in was no different to many other delays

There was zero consistency from his performance

Refs get castigated for blowing up too much. We often say we want robust challenges and some blood and thunder. Today’s ref tried to let the game flow early, and the players took advantage of that leniency.

Did he get it right? Hindsight never gets anything wrong but I feel he had the right idea. I point my finger at the players. They are the ones that decided to push the boundaries, abusing the latitude the ref tried to give them.

But if thats the case then keep letting it go, dont then switch to blowing for everything and every foul being a yellow card. How is it right that the first thirty and last thirty minutes of games like todays are reffed so differently

I agree the players dont help but if the refs are consistent then they have no arguments

the issue with Taylor today was he then started to blow up for ones that he let go

There wasn’t a single bad tackle in that game , not many poor tackles tbh yet 9 yellows and a red ?!
