Indeed, they would import the best of the fancy young foreign thugs and there would be far less opportunity to develop a golden generation of home thuggery.
There was a program I watched quite a while ago, about the Russian footy hooligans. They trained as an army, and their main desire was to smash the English footy fans as they saw the English as the originaters of it.
The program was rather scary in how they came across, especially as they didn't care how much damage they inflicted and on who.

At Euro 16 I was in Nice to watch N Ireland v Poland at the weekend. The match was on the Sunday, England were playing on the Saturday in Marseille. On the Saturday night / Sunday morning, some people who were at England game came across to Nice, and told us what had happened on the Saturday in Marseille. Basically a few hundred English fans were in a fan zone square, including women and children, when suddenly about a hundred Russian hooligans with balaclavas and baseball bats stormed the square from all sides and started lashing out. Kids were hiding under tables.

Somebody must have seen it coming when somebody bought 100 baseball bats but not one baseball. But it was clearly planned as you describe.

Stinky from the ref in England vs Netherlands. England on the attack, blows the whistle before the 5 minutes she allocated, and hadn’t added any on for the dutch players going down all the time.

very stinky

They did, but needed to win by 2 goals to be in control of their destiny. Sadly, they need Belgium to beat the Dutch, and make sure they beat Scotland next week
O yeah, just saw that now. Technically they are still in control, in that if the Dutch win, England can still overtake them if they win by an extra 4 goals difference. Not sure how good Scotland are, but given some of the massive wins in ladies football, perhaps battering Scotland is a reasonable possibility?

Everton looking good but no closer to scoring. Beto has the look of a man who could miss even if the whole Forest team sat down 🙄

My grumpy post clearly got through to the lads 🤣. Great finish from McNeil, good control.

Philippe for Forest is an even bigger walking yellow/red card than Ashley Young 😄.

Biggest crime from Forest, so far, is not getting the ball to Elanga more. By far their most dangerous player.
Gutted. Knew it would be a scrap but thought we might edge it.
We have no heroes ready to step up when it counts. Your defence were way ahead of our weak attack.
Enjoyed the game though. Seemed to be played in a combative but mostly honest spirit, unlike most live matches I find myself watching.

Martial up front, whoopy doo.....

And looks like Luke Shaw is now the preferred CB ahead of Varane rather than Maguire. How times change.

I wonder what game Sancho is playing on his PlayStation tonight?

Martial’s finish last week was typically cool, but in the game as a whole he didn’t do enough. Again.

As for Varane, my view on that is that Maguire has, at long last, put a decent run of games together. The reality is that Maguire and Varane as a pair have absolutely no pace, hence the need for an alternative partner for Maguire. And I think Lindelof has managed to play himself out of the side with recent performances which have shown him to be typically weak in the challenge, and with an awful tendency to send simple passes astray.

Pleased to see Mainoo starting again, but really frustrated to see Rashford start, especially given the fact he will be out of position on the right. I’m baffled as to why ETH continues to show such faith in him. He was awful last week, penalty or no penalty.

Thought Forest should have had a penalty.
Ball breaks out and Everton attack Forest player does exactly the same thing = foul and a yellow.

Everton the better team deserved the win imo.

Forest off the pace tonight and Everton worthy of the win in my opinion.
Looks like a tight game on paper at St James Park, hopefully goals galore, good chance since Onana is in goal 😂😂

It was one of those "seen them given" shouts but not really a penalty for me. I'm a Forest supporter but never find Ryan Yates's tumbles particularly convincing.

Well shirt pulling isn’t a foul anymore apparently.
But he had a swipe at him as well, wasn’t looking at the ball!

But an identical foul outside the box is a yellow card???

Yates generally gives a good as he gets. I just enjoyed seeing a good physical game of football without too much theatrics and the whistle being blown every 30 seconds.
They won. They deserved to win. The match doesn't deserve too much analysis - it was pretty straightforward.
