The Footie Thread

Spurs need to play with width but the players out wide right and left cut back every time so they never go for the byline and get behind them.

And then...as I was typing.......a different player, right footed does exactly that 🤷🏻‍♂️

Being a Brighton fan is a very frustrating thing. When the system works it's brilliant but when it goes tits up it's woeful. West ham and now villa have seen through RDZ and his total football.
I have not been a big fan of his as I think it will go very wrong and he won't know how to fix it.
Next up is Marseille and I'm not holding my breath for that one . RDZ is changing far too many players each game and it's difficult for anyone to get any continuity in the team .
Some weird results today with Manchester getting beat and Luton winning away

Delighted with the result, obviously, but in all honesty we were fortunate to get 3 points.
First Liverpool goal should have stood, wasn’t offside and was a great finish.
First red unfortunate, his foot slipped over the top of the ball but could have been nasty.
Liverpool were resilient when down to nine and Spurs should have capitalised.
Very early days and things are looking positive, great football on the eye.

Intent isn't everything though, it's still a potential ankle breaker. You just have to be more careful in the tackle, ie don't do something where that could happen.
Just like we have seen in the Rugby World Cup the word "reckless" comes to mind. If the worst might happen, then it's your responsibility to avoid that situation from happening. Simples.

Liverpool were done over tonight with some poor decisions by VAR. It needs to be stopped and go back to the ability of a ref. Invest in training them properly, no part timers or clowns who are out of shape, like the one tonight. As I've always said you can forgive a ref a mistake during a game, when someone in a studio makes one after viewing it dozens of times that's unforgivable.

If VAR is to carry on it needs to be run by officials totally seperate from the actual body of refs, as you've got mates doing the VAR and bailing their mates out on the pitch.

The offside decision was bizarre, especially as even the armchair fans were given no evidence, with lines drawn on, to show it being offside. Looked a mile onside from multiple television angles

The red card was correct though. No intent to injure, but still stretched for the ball and, sadly for him, his foot ended up in a position to potentially break an opponents ankle. Seen plenty of red cards given where there is zero intent to injure, but a potential leg breaker is the result.

I could get the fact a ref can get it wrong, no different to a player getting it wrong. I cannot accept that a ref gets it wrong with VAR. He has an extra layer of protection and still screws up.
