Unlucky ladies - not a great final and seemed to get dragged down instead of playing their own game

You have made a grand total of “zero” posts about the women’s football club until a royal has got involved and you have popped up with your militant anti establishment hat just to have a pop at a royal

2Blue qualifies his stance in the second sentence of his first post. “… his role in the FA.” And I agree with him, and I’m very much a Royalist. Prince William is the President of the FA, so why isn’t he at the final of the World Cup? I think it’s very poor form.

Prince William clearly shows his reasons why

“Taking such a long flight would involve creating a large carbon footprint, which goes against William’s commitment to tackling climate change. The prince launched the Earthshot Prize in 2019 in an effort to find solutions to repair and regenerate the Earth.”

The same people being critical of him not being there would be jumping right on him if he did make the flight pointing out his “hypocrisy” in regards climate change - he didn’t go to the Men’s World Cup as well

If the figurehead President was a non royal IMO the op wouldn’t have said a word

It’s a shame that the ladies got to the final and some just want to concentrate on anti establishment

Read earlier that there might also be a constitutional reason behind it. Because King Charles hasn't yet visited Australia since he became king Prince William can't visit before him. I don't know enough about the monarchy to know if that's correct or not but could explain it.

He's the president of the FA .! It's the countries biggest match since 66 we are told , so should have been there.

Do you think that the same reason and absence would exist if it were the men's team in the final of a WC?

He didn’t go to the Men’s World Cup and had no plans to go even if the men’s team got to the final - is hasn’t made the choice because it’s only the Ladies - would expect people to see he has a bit more about than that

Fair enough, I had no clue hence the question. As president of the English FA it makes zero odds to me.

But certainly the role as president should be separated from his role as a Royal as I would not expect to see him at a final if Scotland were involved.

Ok, that’s a stretch having Scotland involved in finals let alone THE final, but my point stands.

If he had turned up last year and also to other events then I could understand the criticism- but at least Imo he is being consistent with his views when it comes to his reasons
