I would love this to be true. He’s a quality player and elevates our midfield 100%. However, I’m absolutely confident Chelsea’s Lavia bid is them “ruffling our feathers” ahead of Sunday and this is a retaliatory feather ruffle.

Come the end of the window I expect Lavia in red and Caicedo in blue.

I would have never expected us to be anywhere near Caicedo but the noise from some of them seems like it’s genuine

Would be a huge piece in the jigsaw but still unsure it happens even with the noise

Encouraging as it is to see some progressive signings at United, what I am absolutely delighted with this summer is that, at long last, we seem to have rediscovered the art of moving players on.

Maguire on the verge of an exit, being joined by Van de Beek and now, it seems, a deal has been agreed which will see Fred leave. Eric Bailly is attracting interest from Saudi Arabia, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see MacTominay also heading elsewhere.

One of the biggest issues we have had for years is an inability to clear out the deadwood, not least because of the ludicrous practice of tying up those approaching the end of their contracts on new long term deals, long after they ceased to be first team regulars. Phil Jones is the classic case in point.

Whilst I like continuity, that needs to be allied to a degree of flexibility in order to keep things fresh. I’m really looking forward to the new season.

So that will be a home defeat to Wolves on Monday, then……….

Does it leave the squad a bit thin ?

Only seem to have two senior CBs - must be some more to come but some issues with FFP ?

De Gea has a new club

If Liverpool couldn’t pay the money for Bellingham how can they for Caceido?
It sounds like the Bellingham transfer fee was never the issue - the wages were. We offered c. £220k gross and RM offered the same *net*.

But… the key point is I don’t think any red realistically thinks this deal has any legs whatsoever. Would be awesome? Yes. But it’s a smokescreen. It’s cover. Chelsea are pushing us and we’re doing the same. Playground politics with 2 football teams and businesses who frankly don’t need to bother.

Has the recruitment team changed? It certainly looks like they’ve made some big decisions in recent weeks. Cautiously optimistic?

Tbf if you’ve got the choice between Real & Liverpool it’s a no brainier.
Imagine being 20yr old & having you pick of every club in Europe 🤯.

I don’t know what’s happening on the recruitment side, but certainly Woodward going will have helped.

I think a lot of it may be down to finally having a manager with the balls to say what, and who, he wants. Whilst some disagree I think he has played a blinder with all the big calls.

As for being optimistic I do think it’s still very early days. But there a stability about the club that has been missing for far too long which is great to see.

Absolutely. But it's also being first choice at both. If it was first choice at Liverpool, £220k pw vs similar at Madrid but benchwarmer, I think we'd have had a chance. First choice at Liverpool on £220kpw, vs first choice at Real on £400kpw+... there's only one winner, and rightfully so.

This summer, in particular for me, the owners have a lot to answer for. Even before you factor in Henderson and Fabinho, losing the wage packets of Milner, Keita, Ox and Firmino gains you c. £600kpw to play with. The fact we're not going into the first weekend of the season with all the major gaps plugged is astonishing. I'm excited, the first 11 looks good (providing they're fit and firing from minute 1) but where we go beyond that is a worry.

This ........................... 100%.

I think the family is all a smoke screen - it’s not as if Munich is all the way across the globe it’s a mere hop in a plane

He wants that Prem goal scoring record - it’s not even the top flight record - that’a Jimmy Greaves , think Kane just about gets into the top 20 at the moment

If I was a Spurs fan I would want him to go now , he clearly doesn’t want to be at the club , he tried to leave already , take the £90mil and bring in Toney and Mitrovic as an example and build again

He is going to leave next summer for nothing because he won’t sign a new contract

And which Prem club will grab him ?

Man Utd - just spend £80mil
City - Haaland

Won’t go to Liverpool or Arsenal - maybe Chelsea

All I can say to that is I’m glad your not a Spurs fan 😉

I will add one more thing you are right about something, sometime when your a old man you’ll look back on the history of the English game and see that Greaves still has the record of being the greatest goal scorer the English game has ever seen 👍

What were you saying about Liverpool being sensible, not overpaying for players and doing sustainable recruitment?

Great player tho he will transform the midfield

Brighton will become Liverpool's new feeder club

He is massively overpriced

£110mil for someone who has played around 50 top flight games is ridiculous

The money will have come from removing around £60mil worth of wages , and unexpected money from Fabinho and Henderson going - so they have blown whatever we have left for the season on one player.

Well good luck to him he deserves to be in a team where he will win something.

Still think it is the wrong move for him, he could have stayed and seen out his contract then had his pick of any club in England won trophies and gone for Shearers record
