Surely that’s a good thing?Rich man donates to charity![]()
If you follow the BBC football site,His reporting of all things Utd is embarrassing. His headlines could be applied to any team during the close season. I read the headlines and moved on.But, it's a headline that has got you to sit up, listen and try and debunk. So, looks like Simon Stones has successfully done his job![]()
The quote below is attributed to Jose Mourinho. Not sure if it’s legitimate or not, but it’s hard to disagree.
"I can't respect a player who refuses to join a club just because it's not in the Champions League. That's like a man saying he won't marry a woman because she doesn't have big buttocks and hips. Who's supposed to feed her so she develops them? If you truly love her, you commit and build with her. Same with football, if you love the team, join and help it grow. That's why I admire players like Cunha and Mbeumo…they go where the heart is, not just the glory."
I wouldn't be so sure that Man Utd will be offering players the most lucrative contracts at this present time to be fair. I believe Cunha is on £180,000 a week, Mbeumo is on £150,000.
Can’t be many mirrors in his place
I’m sure it has nothing to do with the wage on offer
Is there a ‘generational’ thing in football? Or cycles? But, hey, players only join Manchester United for the money, don’t they………..?
They will be joining Stockport, Bury, Bolton etc. as they wont get a look in for all the "cheap" foreign young talent hoovered up by City et al.Is there a ‘generational’ thing in football? Or cycles?
Players that making it into the pros now, they just missed the Arsenal glory days and grew up in the Abramovic Chelsea area. Are they more likely wanting to join Chelsea for sentimental reasons rather than just the money as that’s what they watched growing up?
The kids now wear Manchester City. When they make it into the pros in 15 years, will they want to join there?
Especially foreign talent. They don’t wear Burnley or Derby jerseys in Brazil, they wear those who are successful over here.
There are a good few clubs that have huge global support. Those clubs could have a really bad 5-10 years, but still attract top players, assuming the money isn't awful that they offer them.Is there a ‘generational’ thing in football? Or cycles?

Lovely money, yes. But Ekitike and Wirtz are on around £200,000, unproven PL players. Not to mention Haaland on £525,000, Salah on £400,000, etc
It is likely that players like Cunha and Mbeumo would have interest in other clubs, who would be willing to pay them more than they are on. Unless you feel Man Utd is still the financial powerhouse that can destroy all other clubs when it comes to offering players the best contracts?
You don't think any other club would have paid Cunha or Mbeumo more than Man Utd!?? Your blinkers are huge, if you are prepared to ignore the big money offered to players going to other clubs like Liverpool, City, Chelsea or other big European clubs.Cunha was on £110-120k at Wolves and gone up to £200k
Mbuemo has reportedly gone from £2mil a year to £8mil a year
I’m not sure what other clubs were offering them if there was indeed any other clubs offering wages
Don’t recall other clubs offering them bigger wages
But then I don’t think many clubs would have paid the amount Man Utd did for both players
But money will be a key reason for most going to any club that languishing outside chasing for any major honours
And that includes bonuses , endorsements that will come from playing for Man Utd

That’s the sort thing that happens when a clubs drops down the table - it happened to usI get it. Fans of other clubs love to tell the world how top players won't want to go to Utd, because there are better clubs, and clubs that can offer them European football.
Transfer window comes, Utd sign players that everyone was cooing over the season before. Then suddenly the excuse is that the only reason they are going to Utd is the money. Blissfully ignore the fact that other top clubs are giving out bigger salaries to their signings. Or that the other clubs wouldn't want those players anyway.
I'm pretty sure that if word got out that Cunha or Mbeumo dreamed of a move to Liverpool, City, Chelsea, Arsenal or Newcastle, the many of those clubs would have been very keen to make that happen.
I’ve not got a dog in this fight being a lowly Reading fan. But when You speak of Cunha and Mbuemo and mention if they’d said they dreamed of moves to clubs like Arsenal, Liverpool, City or Chelsea then I’d say it’s a pointless argument. You don't think any other club would have paid Cunha or Mbeumo more than Man Utd!?? Not sure where you’re reading that I’ve said they went purely for money unless your trying every which way to spin your narrative as the only correct opinion.Interesting take on Cunha and Mbeumo.
Last season they were getting nothing but praise (apart from when they were elbowing staff members of other sides), and made many fans Premier League team of the year.
Now they've gone to Man Utd. Suddenly, it's only for the money, and none of the bigger sides who can pay more would have wanted them. Note, there seemed to be a lot of excitement when news spread Mbeumo demanded £450,000 a week to go to Utd. Seems like that figure was just £300,000 higher than reality.
Given that most of the established top players are clearly not for sale, it would be interesting what higher level players these top clubs are looking for? Isak perhaps, albeit he'll cost best part of £150 million and demand a big salary. Or maybe they are looking for the next Darwin Nunez, currently playing in some European league?
