But Mitoma has slid in to block the challenge, he is sliding and not in control. So where does the player put his foot ?

Re the penalty that was overturned…
It’s certainly not a hill I’m gonna die on. But I’m not as convinced as others on here that Anderson “stepped on” Mitoma’s arm.
To me, Anderson’s foot was off the ground and as Mitoma slid in, his arm took out said foot, rather than the foot planting on top of the arm.
You can argue with your Nan over whether Anderson was leaving his foot raised and looking for it. But I’ve certainly seen many softer ones given. It’s the kind of decision that if it goes for you you’re a bit lucky and if it goes against you, you feel aggrieved.
What I’m a little puzzled by is that we’re continually told VAR doesn’t get involved unless the ref has made a “clear and obvious” error. If you think that was a “clear and obvious” error, you’re entitled to your opinion, but I would disagree, personally.
As said though, not a hill I would die on. I’m kind of relieved it wasn’t a deciding factor in the outcome of the tie. Could have gone either way and commiserations to Brighton.

The clear and obvious is a complete joke
Seen it too many times now where soft or 50/50 etc pens or red cards the VAR has got involved
