It was decent and professional by England. Albania don't concede many (i guess because they park the bus). I think the last time they got hammered was in 2021, lost 5-0 against....England.

We'll only start to see if England are a braver, more attacking side when they play teams who are more adventurous themselves

But, it was a boring game. Which happens when 2 international.sides play with a big difference in quality. I hate international weeks

I have to say I thought we were good tonight.

Three things stood out. We pressed and played with a higher intensity from the off. We played a lot of quick short passes and we looked a much better organised side. There was very little of the tedious and cowardly passing between the keeper and centre backs, which was the crap Southgate served up.

Over the moon to have a proper manager in charge of England, regardless of nationality. A huge upgrade on the snivelling wet wipe Southgate.

so England have a new Gerrard vs Lampard

Foden vs Bellingham

You cant shoehorn them all in so someone needs to miss out and right now it should be Foden
At the moment only one is playing in their correct position and it isn't Foden. Foden is being judged out of position, and getting hammered for it.

I agree with you in dropping him. Either play him in his correct position or use him as a substitute.

Agreed.

Foden has shown he is a great player, but so has Bellingham. If England had a No.9 that stays around the penalty spot, then perhaps there would be a place for both of them. Or, if Bellingham was asked to play a deeper midfield role.

But, it doesn't work with Kane playing. And, in my opinion, Kane is one of the finest players in the world. He is right up there as the best No. 10 in the world AND the best No. 9 in the world. And, what's more, he can play both positions simultaneously. Given that I never remember him doing it, it would be ridiculous to ask him to stop dropping deep. By doing what he does, opposing defenders and midfielders have a massive headache as it is almost impossible to mark him out of the game. He finds all sorts of space, and he can create scoring opportunities for all his attacking team mates.

So, as of now, I think Foden should be a luxury sub for No. 10 role, or a utility player for out wide if England are really struggling. There is Palmer as well, who might need to be considered in a similar way (or maybe he is better out wide?). But the likes of Bowen and Gordon should be trusted more, and given more of a run in the wide positions (especially while Saka is out). Don't mind Rashford on left to.be fair, if he is showing good form at club level.

Bellingham plays fantastic as a box to box aswell.. there is the next to rice problem solved and then foden can play his correct position.

Imagine what Bellingham is worth?????

Thought England were professional last night. Move the ball quick in the first half and Rashford looked like the Rashford of old. I’d have liked to have seen Bowen have a crack on the right. I think England miss Saka in those type of games.

Albania have made themselves hard to beat so to win without breaking sweat was decent.

This is the crux for me. He is the nearest in that squad to saka for natural right sided but we shunt players out of position when saka is out

This is for me why England never win anything. We try to fit all the superstars in rather than what's the best for the team

The euros id of rather seen Gordon on the left than foden shunted there just because he is "Phil foden"

Let's not forget it was Tuchels first game and I'm sure he learned a lot last night.
I think we might see a few changes on Monday. 👍

Very interesting with the next game, all I saw last night was a typical England performance like I’ve seen over the last x years. Same poor movement and lack of any real ideas however both goals were taken well.
Tuchel needs to totally re invent the team imo.

What I noticed most of all last night was how well we pressed in their half making it difficult for them to get out. Why even Rashford was chasing back for the ball! The intensity when we didn't have the ball was much better.
It was one of the things Tuchel highlighted in his press conference. And post match he wasn't frightened of criticing some aspects of the game.

As an England fan it’s very disappointing with how poorly we press specially given how it’s part and parcel of their game in the PL and other leagues.

Well, I must say I expected more than I saw. Same patta -a-cake passing with not much apparent will to go forward . Modern football I suppose, but to me it justifies what I understand Harry Redknapp has said about today’s players compared with players in the Eighties.
Today’s “top” football is also boring to watch, and last night , to me, wasn’t any different.

I mentioned yesterday there was a lot of knocking it about and not enough attempts at playing a telling ball for players to get onto. What I couldn’t understand was the press was very very good so attempt the pass and if it don’t come off the press could lead to mistakes

One of the women at work is into her football, another has no interest at all. I was chatting to the interested one about the gathering next Sunday to show the trophy off and bemoaning the lack of a parade instead. The uninterested one asked, 'what did they do last time?' We both looked at each other and burst out laughing. 'We weren't alive back then, we don't know' :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: . Bless her.

Sure it will involve a few celebratory drinks for the fans. Well deserved after all this time waiting

The gathering, on the town moor for those who know the city, will be 'dry'. They will have to do some major frisking because there is no way that is staying dry.

They really should have just done a bus parade. That way, thousands are in the city. They will eat, drink, drink some more, a great day. This is over organised and sounds a bit sterile. Tickets to the gathering are free so they are not making money from it but it doesn't sound great.

Yeah...I do think they have dropped the ball on the planned celebrations...an open topped bus tour through the city would give far more people the chance to see the trophy, bringing hundreds of thousands of people into the city center delivering additional custom to the local restaurants, businesses and bars on a Sunday afternoon. Folks would rather spend a few hours in/outside a bar in the city center waiting for the parade to arrive, than standing drinking a bottle of water on the Town Moor for 4 or 5 hours before the players arrive on a stage which might be hardly visible.

The formal event that is planned is being publicized as alcohol free.
