On a related note, I remember when we signed Vlad Chiriches, an article genuinely called him the Romanian Thiago Silva. He was terrible. :ROFLMAO:

Wonder if he'll be the Paraguayan Gareth Bale. Just like Pahars was the Estonian Michael Owen, or Iain Dowie was the Northern Irish Alan Shearer?
Haha
The Messi of the Carpathians anyone?
(Gheorghe Hagi iirc. Was a great talent but surprisingly failed to live up to his sobriquet)

Honestly don't know how much longer Ange can last. Granted our first choice defenders are injured, that might be the only thing saving him at the moment. But a defeat to Southampton this weekend would surely mean the end?

I've been saying sack him for weeks! He hasn't got a clue.
Was interesting that Ange didn't hold back last night in being critical of Werner.

Other than the 'vote of confidence' I usually find that throwing particular players under the bus is another one of the final death knells for a manager. Mourinho made it a specialty when he was on his way out.
Feels like he has become more interested in his own ego than the club (very Mourinho). When I heard interview, it seemed like he was very touchy about not beating Rangers, especially with his past connections to Celtic. Could tell he struggled to give Rangers much credit, then came up with excuses like Spurs were completely off form, then throwing Werner under the bus. Like trying to say "normally my Spurs would thrash you the way I ask them to play, but the players just didn't turn up tonight"

Thing with Werner, I could sort of understand it if he was an absolute nightmare and completely unprofessional behind the scenes. But, I don't think that is the case. I think he tries very hard, but he just lacks a lot of quality in key areas. So, how can you publicly slate a player when they could well be giving their best, but just lack the quality? We all knew what Werner was before he joined Spurs

I watched a lot of the game last night, and I can see why the criticism of Werner, It wasn't his attacking play that was the problem, it was the lethargic effort when Rangers had the ball, he just stood there and let the Rangers players with the ball just trot passed him time and time again, there was absolutely no effort. To be fair I would not have made this public unless he had already warned him previously, he had giving him warnings before then he would never play for me again and sit on the bench where no effort is needed.

@Bazz what do you make of this? Seems bit ott

Correct decision. Can't be having a strop like that and supposed to be leading the team. He'll be better off without it, form has suffered a bit with the added pressure.

I guess so, the first bit was handbags. Could have just left it there. The afters from that where everyone is trying to calm him down was bit much

Shame I'd love to have bought him in Jan , would really improve us
