The foam is there for a reason.
Is it ok to move the ball a yard down the touchline for a corner ( it’s not closer ) but the quadrant is there for a reason.

The keeper didn’t reset the wall that I remember.
Is it clever yes.
Cheating yes!

The foam is really there to keep ball and wall ten yards apart. Toney hasn’t breached that ten yards - he’s changed the angle by a few inches. I’m not even convinced the referee would have asked him to replace the ball had he seen what was going on!

Funny and clever in equal measure, but the main issue here is that no player in that Forest wall was switched on to what was happening. No real sympathy with them, and I’d really class it as gamesmanship rather than cheating.

I thought the ref puts the foam down to set the placement of the ball.
So the free kick was taken from the wrong place.!

The forest players don’t apply the rules the ref does!

100% cheating for me, the keeper seemed to set up his wall for the original ball position and didn’t spot Toney moviing it a yard or so to the right. Not sure how VAR missed it, he took the free kick from the wrong place so is that an indirect free kick to the opposition or retake the free kick?

Ivan Toney, once a cheat always a cheat . Surely VAR looked at it as they are supposed to look at every goal . Poor performance from ref and var .

But surely FFP should have stopped that.

If the proper rules were in place at the time it maybe could have. Rangers probably wouldn't have won as many trophies as they did but it would have stopped their club going out if business.
Probably the best example of why FFP rules are important.

Interestingly, if there was no such thing as vanishing foam, I doubt anybody would be moaning about Toney's free kick. See players all the time moving the ball multiple times before taking a free kick anywhere else on pitch.

I vaguely remember one earlier in season where the free kick taker moved ball back, giving them more room to get up and over the wall. Can't remember who though.

Regardless, thought Toney was excellent last night. Looked excellent on ball, linked up well with his team mates and really good at challenging defenders for high balls.

We hear about "match fitness" in professionals. He wasn't allowed to train was he? As part of the ban for a while and he has kept himself fit

He's been allowed to train for the last few months with team I believe. It was only the first part of his ban he couldn't train

Same as impressed me with lingard. Not playing at the time but when he came to us he had kept himself tip top condition

I can understand they don't if they are injured, as they can't train. They've no excuses if they are fit though.

But what impressed me was that he was match sharp. Players can definitely lose that, even if they keep Mo Farah level fitness

Dunno how that wasn't given but as i said previously the game should have been blown up after their pen

I think the penalty was in the 95/6th minute which was nigh on full time with the six minutes injury time. But I have a feeling a minute was added on for the West Ham sending off. After the Sheff Utd penalty, I think there was one min left and that was it.
