It’s going to happen to many games , silly yellow cards in every match then followed up by reds . Reckon this season will be at least double the amount of yellow and red cards than in previous seasons
I dunno.

Last few seasons we seem to have starts like this (re rules) then levels off.

Was penalties last season I think.

I’m happy seeing more cards but they need to be correct and consistent.

Yes - unfortunately the consistency went after the second week when players stopped getting yellows for demanding cards be shown

Even with the replay I can’t see if VVD got the ball first or went through the man to get the ball. Was it a fantastic tackle or a stupid foul? Brave tackle when last man.

TAA should have gone, not sure VVD should have. Whatever, mobbing the ref was poor, and VVD mouthing off was silly.

It will happen until the players wise up. If they don't then it will continue.

The refs told everyone what was going to happen, they put on clinics, they repeat it before a game. TAA booking was entirely avoidable and on him. VVD red would have happened in past seasons as well. He will be lucky if his automatic ban isn't extended after his reaction.

Through the man to get the ball. Definitely kicked the attacker first. 100% correct decision to give a foul.

Might have been mentioned. But, once red is given, refs should still be able to dish out another yellow for dissent, or even another red for more serious or constant dissent.

The problem is it’s not consistently happening - look at the Arsenal players reactions last week and the reds ignored it , even in this game Joeltinton had committed three or four cynical fouls and nothing , a shirt pull there as well - I’m all for getting this sorted but the refs need to be consistent

And there is another from Joelintonn

I also think the player involved should be able to argue his case, just to let it out and the ref take a second then send them off

Do you mean for VVD? Presumably that will go in his report and should impact how many games he misses.
I'm always dubious what punishments are dished out using words in a report. Whereas if a player gets a red and then a yellow, or even 2 reds, it is almost a definitive flag to automatically get a bigger punishment.

I think the ref might get a couple of hours overtime in after the match ( At double time coz it’s a Sunday) filling out a match report in which VVD May well be central to most of that. If it was midweek overtime he would have got 2 pies or pasties and half a pint of milk at the pit. 👍

Not sure about that. The player will always argue their case, should we allow refs to be influenced by a charismatic player who just so happens to be a great debater? If ref sees it as a red, give a red. If he is wrong, let his VAR help him out.

If we don't have the confidence officials will get the right decisions, it would be even worse if we allow refs to talk it over with the player first.

If that’s a denying a goal scoring opportunity then I think there will be more red cards - it’s a foul and a yellow but I don’t think that denying a clear goal scoring opportunity

Seen it again. Nailed on red. Which begs the question, why on earth did VVD argue so vehemently against it.
