The "Don't know whether to laugh or cry" thread

They claim 115 mile range but real life is more like 60 miles.
If you drive more in a single journey, get a hybrid/plugin.
And if you have solar panels at home they are free to run

If you think how quickly things change........
Normal 'big' tvs to flat screen tvs
35mm camera film to the memory card
Digital tv
Internet
etc
I think/hope electric cars will be the norm sooner than most people think. (Especially the oil companies)

Exactly. I have said the same thing to my mates who say that electric cars will not
flourish because there are too many problems re battery technology and the charging of them.
I agree that whilst the batteries are the size they are , they are right.
Street charging overnight is not on. Security is the problem, plus availability.
How many live in flats and terraced housing? How will they charge cars overnight?
I use a golf buggy, and the battery is carry-able, if a little heavy, so I can charge it indoors.
When it is possible to do the same with car batteries, then electric cars will become the norm. That will have to happen. When it does, the combination of governmental incentive and regulations, and fall in prices which accompanies availability will see electric cars on our roads.
The pace of miniaturisation in technology is exponential, such that it may be already known ( by powers that be )that electric cars can be sustained now.
However, the oil industry would not be too happy about that , so a long changeover period may be economically necessary.
I say this because if electric cars are just a "maybe", the governments are making some confident , definite announcements , such as not permitting sales of petrol and diesel cars after a particular date!
I think, one day, today's children will have a job remembering what a petrol
car was like.😀

Got the details for my new car through this afternoon.
Now, I've been having that childish chortle when I've thought about it because it's going to be a "69" plate:whistle:
First thing I noticed on the registration number was the first two letters......
My new car will have the number.....

BJ69...
:ROFLMAO::oops:

Sorry mate, you are going to have to explain that one 😂🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

I think it's a reference to our prime minister?
Okay, maybe not.
Hopefully it'll be BJ69 WOW.

I once had access to an Audi S4 Estate with the registration S4 WOW, which was very appropriate.

They wont unless induction charging becomes viable.
The alternative is to charge your car at work.
Or while shopping or playing golf.

And no matter how much that would cost, it would still be a lot less than almost £6 per gallon for petrol.

As the battery range continues to grow you may only need to charge it once a week.

I don't know that inductive charging would ever be viable as the risks to anyone with a pacemaker would be catastophic, plus the possible damge to electronic equipment that comes too close.
You only have to consider the warnings when you have and use an induction hob.

If you want further arguements against it, look into the claims of health issues for those living near and under power lines or transformers in the USA.

You mean like cars? ;)

I'm all right, my car wont fit in my kitchen. ;)

I'm not saying I have all the answers, I just think electric cars are here to stay and will continue to grow very quickly.
And apologies for hijacking the thread
