My most memorable shot was on a par 4 with the green on top of a steep slope.
I put the ball on the tee and smashed it up the hill - when i got up there not knowing what sort of trouble i would be in, i see the ball sitting about a foot away from the hole and of course got my only eagle so far. What made this even greater was that i was playing against 3 of my wifes uncles ;o)

there are probably a few to choose from and a lot from my junior days that i can't remember but last season i holed out twice on par 4's for eagles......

one was from about 75yrds and the other was about the same.i'd go for the last one in october as i seen it all happen, the first one i couldn't see the hole.

I think the most memorable for me was a greenside chip.

Green slopes heavily front to back and then again from left to right. 56* wedge, hands forward, landed it about 6 feet on the green (aiming away from the hole) let the left to right slope take effect. Got the weight bang on stopped about 2" past the hole playing for about 12 feet of break.

Tap in birdie.

I've hit a few good shots but this is the one that always sticks out in my head.

In a junior comp at Coulsdon Court I had a three iron 2nd shot to the par 5 5th. (That's an old Petron Impala blade 3I )

Hit it lovely to within a foot and a half, for a simple eagle putt.

Missed it.

Lost the comp on countback.

My first actual eagle was in a solo round the year before last. Nearly 30 years later.

Not that it had been weighing on my mind at all.....

Most memorable under pressure was the 1st tee at the Forrest of Arden in the Gm centenery game ,in front of Mike H & JezzE from the mag & the mags photographer , plus the rest bar 2 of the groups , bricking it would be an understatement , all our group did ok with it tho, so happy days

Not sure about the best shot I have ever hit as there are many candidates although the most memorable shot would be the 18th at the 2010 course last year.

Had a solid card going and needed a par on the last to come in level par, so I was hunting a strong finish to come in under par.

Had a little under a full wedge to a pretty nasty left hand flag infront of the left corner of the bunker.

Flown it 10 feet over the flag and it has spun nicely back and trickled into the hole. Little bit more luck than judgement in the end!

Came in at -2!!!! :)

Ash!!

My most enjoyable shot recently was at Camberley.
Par 3 (8th?) and I'm through the back. Not a great lie chipping onto a down slope left to righter and the pin close to the edge.
Open the SW and dropped it gently on the ball. Ball lands softly and dribbles down to about a foot.
Of course no-one said a word

Plenty of good, bad and ugly but one that stands out for me was a bunkershot at my home course on a non qualifier. On my knees, gripping down the club and bal in a footprint. 30 yards from the flag, knocked it into a foot and a half and walked away with a birdie. Game is easy some days......

holed out for eagle at 2nd hole par 5 from 120 yards. landed in couple yards short. usual cut and as it sat rolling to the hole i was shouting disappear, dissappear!!!! dropped and high fives all round. didnt play well the rest of the round as i didnt give a shite after that.

last hole of work society comp. 4 rounds. im leader by 4 going into final day. have a bit of a nightmare round. cant get anything going. feel ive blown it. last hole slice drive right behind trees. cant get to green. choose to play further right onto next fairway. now or never 6 iron to 2 feet. tap in par. win the society day and new cobra golf bag by 1 point! THANK YOU 6 IRON ! :)

Ive had a hole in one which is an obvious call but most memorable recently was when I holed from the fairway from 90 yards in Florida last year for eagle when playing with 2 locals, they pair were more excited and happier than I was.

I can hit the ball pretty well on occasion which makes up for all the terrible shots that also occur in any given round. No one shot springs to mind for me though.

Last round I played for example included a birdie 2 with a pretty long putt - maybe 15 yards, a super wedge over a pond and bunker to 6 feet from some rough and 4 bunker escapes on first attempt which was a 100% success rate that day.

my most memorable shot def has to be in the summer playing at our clubs pro day. Came to 7th which was beat the pro, he stood up and the ball landed about 3 feet from the flag, the rest of my group went and got nowhere near so billy big balls stood up and landed it about 2 inches from the hole. seriously couldnt believe it. I won a box of taylormade pentas for my troubles. Bring it on!!!!

Back in the early '80s a drive with a Maxfli persimmon driver, the ball took off low for about 150 yards and then just climbed and climbed, fantastic flight with a good roll out. Don't know the distance but well over 250 yards, never hit a drive like it again. I still have the driver but cannot hit it 200 yards now - no forgiveness at all. The memory is better than my hole in one last December.

One my best shots was actually three shots at St. Andrews. Got to hole no 5, just 2 over, then preceded to mash a driver but the wind caught hold of the fade, ;), and the ball went into heather/out of town sharpish! The course guide drolled in his best Scottish voice, "Hit another, Chief". Bugger! Hole blown. :(

Hit a tanking second drive to end up left in the semi. Mashed a fab three iron to left front, just off the green, but down the small dip. Very tricky up and down, and knowing my short skills, guaranteed knife and three putt for 0 points and a card wrecker. However, flushed the chip and canned the mofo!! :D Three pointer and a par t'boot!

Gullane #2, 11th hole, down hill par 3.

Standard slice short and right of the green in the semi-rough, pin back left.Decided to use a wee 7 iron to get it on the green and roll it out out towards the hole.As soon as I hit it I knew the line was good, left to right, down the slope.Dropped in for a cheeky wee birdie.

I've probably hit better shots, but off the top of my head, that's my favourite.

Without a doubt my best shot was when I holed out from 40 yards for eagle on the par 5 11th at Chartham Park. First and only eagle to date.

Another personal favourite was a 360 yard drive a couple years back playing at Rivenhall 9 hole course, my driver isn't my most consistent club in the bag, in fact I'm terrible with it but this one split the fairway, straight as an arrow and rolled for ages.

Sharp right to left Dogleg par 4 with trees all down the left, its about a 4 iron to the dogleg and 9 iron into a tiny green literally surrounded by tall trees. First round played 4 iron 9 iron, 3 putts Bah!

Second round they egged me on to have a go, pulled out the 4 wood and smacked a high drawn shot to 12 feet:eek: 3 putts again Bah!!

Anyone else loving this thread?!

A couple of long putts/holing out from the edge of the green spring to mind but the best in recent memory was match play, last hole, I had put in a great front 9 and was 3 up but lost it on the back where I had to give 4 shots away and he started playing well, by the last it was all square. Opponent drove first, safe in the centre of the fairway. I pulled out a booming drive on the 284 yard hole that went through the back, the old boys on the tee could hardly believe it as wind was across and I'm not a big guy but every now and then you nail one right out of the centre and it flies and flies. Putted it 40 feet dead, tap in bird, won the match.

Going out tomorrow for my first game since last year, even if I hack it around its days like that one that'll keep me coming back over and over.
