Watched the Abu Dhabi Championship finish on Sky.
Paul Casey left us hanging on right to the end.
With what looked like an unsurpassable lead on the front nine, Mr Casey almost blew it on the finishing few holes.
Oosterhuizen shot up the field to almost clinch it but Casey kept his cool on the 18th to putt for victory. Couldn't help but think he was going to throw it all away though.

Big up to Martin Kaymer for his majestic putt on the last to tie for 2nd.

Casey played well throughout the tournament. Does anyone else think that possibly the pressure got to him in the final back nine?

Casey is a top player but not consistant enough for me. If playing a 3or4 day comp he always has a bad round which in turn stops him winning

I agree with you. Casey has the talent but lacks something. Do you remember when he walked out of the US Open after taking 85 in the first round? Anyway, well done Paul. What about winning at Augusta this spring?

Walking out is becomming a bit too common amongst some pros these days, it shows a lack of grit in my book, Ive seen golfers come back from a double figure deficit and finish at least in the money, but he is young.

I agree there is a charactor issue here but having said that he is also a great golfer when he turns it on, but I dont believe the best of the best walk away, I think they keep going until they miss the cut.

I think Casey is almost back to form, when he is he'll def' be Englands answer to Tiger, he has the tallent.

And it was really only on the back nine when casey had 3 bogeys, but was still able to re-group & sort himself out, to still win.

Sterling efforts from Kaymer & Oosterhuizen.

Good to see more good finishes from Rory Mclroy and Danny Willet, 2 good young players tht are a good sign for the future.

Casey is a superb striker of the ball, and rips it off the tee. If he could get the short game consistency of woods, mickleson etc he would definitely be a force to be reckoned with. He is a great guy though and a tremendous golfer so I am pleased he won.

I think his problem was playing defensive. I think he only used the driver twice.
I know he was going for accuracy but he plays better when he is on the offensive.
Saturdays round was sublime.
If he had only had a one shot lead I think he would have attacked the course more. when he got to 6 in front, he crumbled.

He is a talent, hits it miles and has a decent short game. He has been let down by his putting over the last couple of years but could have sunk them with a walking stick yesterday.

Agree with Mcilroy & Willet these are going to be greats I think Woods (Chris) will have a say also.

I think form the limited experience I've had of watching Casey (once live the rest via TV) is that he has a problem with concentration and his mind tends to wander from the task in hand. There is no doubt he is one of the best ball strikers out there with sublime distance but he just doesn't seem to be able to "switch on" at the right times.

That said it is good to see him back in the winners circle. I thought it was a great defence by Kaymer and good to see McIlroy and Willett perform so well.

Without getting overexcited, would it be safe to say that Casey is Englands top golfer these days.
Let's face it, our best one of recent times had to be Justin Rose. To be honest, he's done very little success wise of late.
I always believed Lee Westwood was the main man, but after I saw him bottle it last year I had my doubts.
I'd still class Westwood as a more consistent golfer than Casey.

We shouldn't forget Poults either. After his fantastic Bulldog spirited Ryder Cup performance, I think he went up in the most cynical of viewers estimations

Spot on Homer about a casey. i also think Donald is like casey lots of ability and quality just lacks that bit more.
