I like it when people say "I shot and 83 and my h/cap is 24" then I know how well they have done - #simples :)

Sorry BM, have to disagree here mate.
I know exactly what your saying but...
Surely 43 points no matter what your handicap is good playing relative to your h/cap, be it 4 or 24.
If someone you didn't know came up to you and said they shot 85 gross, would you feel sorry for them or congratulate them? Exactly. You wouldn't know.
If it was your score I'm guessing you wouldn't be happy whereas someone like Smiffy would probably be over the moon. ;)
You read on here all the time about people reaching their goals whether its to reach Cat I or breaking 100, 90,80 etc and you can almost here them smile. I think the least we should do is congratulate and encourage the happy people who cant stop grinning and just want to share their good news. :)

This was sort of the reason i posted it. at the start of the year my target was to break 80 around hour local which has a CSS of 68 (ie 12 over), although this plays a bit easier that selsdon park and isnt as punishing, i played well to shoot my 79 in the first week of june. 11 over was a ncie feeling although yet again the back 9 curse kicked in and ive been struggling with it regular, great front nine, back falls appart.

after reading a tip here about not counting scores until the last hole, on thursday as i just played every hole as if it was the first with no score, end result was a 43 pointer instead of my current best result which i "think" was around 38/39 points on a course longer & far more tighter that my existing best of the year.

10 over on a tighter harder course was alot better than my previous 11 over on a more forgiving easier course, an i do put the score down to me not having the pressure of knowing what points were on my card.
