Christened the new MX300's today. A net 67 on a par 70, and 40 points. A new PB for me. And a 7 and two 8's thrown in for good measure.

It's official. I've kicked the wife outta bed and I'm sleeping with my mizzies!

Now whilst we all might agree that new bats aren't the route to a better game. Having bats that suit your game does help. I just hope that it's not a honeymoon!

Really lovely day's golf, despite the wind.

Re: Thank goddness. I got out today.

Considering your final sentence, I would think your wife would be very happy for you to sleep with your mizzies!

So life is good in Hampshire? Well done it's nice when we enjoy our self presents.

Re: Thank goddness. I got out today.

Well there would be if I'd entered the comp!! I spoke to the Pro straight after the game. They said that because I hadn't entered the comp, I won't get a cut. Fair enough. But the reason I 'fessed' up to the score was not to enter the comp retrospectively (that's just not cricket), but to get the cut and not to be seen as protecting my h'cap. Ah well.

Re: Thank goddness. I got out today.

How can you have a nett 67 on par 70 and have 40 points???

Easy. Have a high h'cap.

Sorry, three eights. :o

Okay, so it's not off the whites, and the new course will be harder. But it's a step in the right direction.

The new bats have helped, but I have put a fair bit of practice in the net at home. Perk of the job!

Re: Thank goddness. I got out today.

Got out for the first time since doing my back in and wish I hadn't bothered. I was dross. Totally inept in every department but my driving was so spectacularly bad I couldn't have driven worse if someone had offered me money to try.

It does prove that a range swing isn't a competitive swing. I'd been driving really well at the range and today it went to pot. Even my irons went north and they are my strongest point.

Well done Hapless. Chuffed for you mate.

I played my best round last week. Obviously came on here and told everyone about it. You can't keep something like that to yourself mate!

Re: Thank goddness. I got out today.

The Mrs just looks at me blankly when I tell her. All I tell her is the score and how it relates to recent form, that's it. She just looks at me as if to say that the bin needs emptying.!

So yes. It is nice to come on here and share. Even if it is still appalling compared to a lot of you guys. :D

Well done mate, remind me not to play you for money. When is the new course opening ? What have they done ? Is it total make over or just shifting a few holes ?

Well done on the round again mate.

Midnight...

Hapless, sorry to change the subject a bit, but how do you get that first image on SS2?

Re: Thank goddness. I got out today.

Hapless,

Great scoring - well done. And don't put it all down to the new bats. There was still someone on the other end swinging them !

Glad to see that you may be coming around at last Homer. I may have said it before but any one of us could be a near scratch golfer on the range. Hit a ball. 15 - 60 secs later hit a ball, 15 - 60 secs later hit a ball. How about the walk between shots? The wait for your partner to play? The non perfect lie (ball above/below your feet, uphill/downhill lie)?

Not for me, other than teed up shots where I am trying (usually unsuccessfully) to concentrate on specifics.

Down at the practice ground with the irons off different lies, that's where practice counts.
