So August has been 'wet' by summer standards, but to be quite honest, I couldnt be happier.
My course is now looking as well as it has all year !

March/April were 2 really dry months, which by early May, meant the course was 'browning off' as the fairways struggled, then a bit of rain here & there has kept things ticking along nicely, but with the last few weeks, and then non-stop rain here in East Yorks yesterday, I know the course is gonna look fab the rest of the summer.

With a new Greenkeeper doing great things this year, the Club is as good as I have seen it in 20years.....

How's yours fairing ?

Our greens are simply fantastic which means they will be overseeding and sanding soon :( the only problem on our course with the rain is the rough has got to stupid thickness and height in most place (knee high). But overall the course is in fantastic condition.

Bollocks.

It has never stopped over the last month and my inland track has been closed 5 days 1 of which is today.

Some weekends have seen nearly 5 inches fall over a weekend!!We are on the bloody east coast for christ sake!!

It's fecking August,no wonder folk head abroad for holidays.

We got hammered with rain the last few days but the course is holding up. A few casual water spots yesterday until the rain stopped and then they drained quickly.
Our greens are not as good as they were last year. We nearly lost them completely early in the year due to the extra hot/dry weather and although they have recovered somewhat they're not very true. Plenty of bobbles and of course the obligatory non-repaired pitchmarks don't help.

Perfect weather for the last few weeks, rain at night, perfect during the day. Stayed fine for 36 holes last week and has been glorius today. Hope it holds for the medal tomorrow. Course is in great condition at the moment, greens are in top nick and the fairways are back on form having been very dry earlier in the year.

It absolutely hammered it down this morning when we were playing. Got a right old soaking. Thank god for Stromberg trosers, dried off in no time once it stopped raining.

We had standing water on some of the greens when the rain was lashing down. Drained away quite quickly though. My course looks beautiful at the moment, very lush, very green. :)

Well said that man.

The fairways are suffering and no amount of rain will make our tees level.
Our greens were shocking earlier in the year and particularly bad about a month ago, but getting better each week now with a new maintenance program in place.

Our course is playing ok and wasn't too muddy at all today. Sadly the greens are still a mess and I'm not sure what remedial work they were suppose to have done during Royal Ascot to sort the moss in them out but it ain't worked and is a disgrace on some of them now. They better get it sorted quick because I know a lot of guys (20+ of the big spenders) are thinking of walking and I'm not sure I won't be too far behind. The greenkeeper isn't up to it and I don't know why they haven't got the balls to get rid

If I remember right I think Hawkeye said you'd had (or were having) the STRI in?
If that's the case give them a little time.

We had them at ours, but after about 3 weeks the greens were terrible. I asked about them and apparently they were told not to do anything until the results from the soil samples had been analysed and results (and recommendations) published.

That was about a month ago now. There were 2 or 3 weeks of intensive work done on them once the results were in when they were even worse, but now are becoming very nice, and better each time I play on them.

Our fairways have been preferred lies all summer - the dry spring really hammered them this year.

To be fair the rest of the course has been decent nick and I think the current inclement spell will help green up everything nicely.

Don't mind a bit of rain but yesterday was just a downpour.

Played in a charity day at Kenwick Park and went out OK for the front 9 in light rain then the heavens opened - and I mean really opened. By the time we made it to the 11th the green was 50% under water. Putting was impossible - could not find a line without a puddle at best - a mini stream in most cases - between the ball and the hole. Same story on 12th, 13th and 14th so we walked in - found that most behind us had already jacked in. Winners had 91 points (4 ball better ball / 2 scores count) and they made it in before the downpour - lucky sods. Mind you I think we stood at 43 points after 9 so could have been in the places if we had a decent back nine.

Still the fairways will perk up a bit for next weeks string of comps. :D
