TGL

My thoughts are that the build out is very impressive indeed.

Having watched 3 episodes before forming my opinion, I think long term people will get bored of watching golfers hit into a screen.

It cant be taken seriously as a golfing competition, especially when shots are not going where they are supposed to.
It was not a good look hearing Tiger say "I cant hit this club that far" after his ball airmailed a green into a water hazard.
Also then Max Homa heard saying "I didnt hook that" as he watched his ball hook into a canyon.

So if its not serious golf then its entertainment.

Its struggling to hold my attention as entertainment for 2 hrs, this should be an hour long show for me.

If there is one thing we could take from this to real golf, it would be the shot clock.
The pace of play is really good because of that.

Hang on, we can discuss how a relaxed dress code would improve the experience

I agree. Do you allow black socks though?

The players look out of place in full gear indoors, especially wearing caps. But in Full Swing we saw players wearing caps in their bedroom. I wonder how much of it is due to requirements in sponsors contracts and how much is covering up bad haircuts.

I'd want to cover up that tan line to be fair

One annoying thing about TGL - constantly listening to players like McIlroy shout "Sit, Sit, SIT"

Like playing a 1990's computer game where the characters have basically been given one phrase to say over, and over and over again.

At least this week the match was tight

Last nights episode was better - the people playing do make a difference. Some uncomfortable silences, particularly at the start but the commentary is shockingly bad. "A birdie for the ages...", hopefully taking the proverbial but I don't think it was. It needs some of those celebs / sports stars playing. Or Tiger vs Rory every week.

I'm watching it now.
Don't think the commentator was taking the mick at all, he's deadly serious about trying to hype up the history-making "first birdie in the history of Jupiter Links Golf Club" :ROFLMAO: but unfortunately for him nobody else could give a monkey's.

The players at least look like they're having a bit of fun, but even with my favourite ever player (Tiger) and another favourite (Rory) playing, there is absolutely nothing in this to get my interest.
I'll stick with my original thought, this won't be on TV this time next year.

Finally got around to watching some highlights on YT, pretty horrific if I'm totally honest. I'm surprised some people on here like it with all the whooping and hollering going off.
What's with all the duff bunker shots? I must have seen 3 or 4 in the latest video.

I've actually been quite enjoying it but it is very over-the-top Americanised.

My biggest grips are actually to do with the broadcast - the number of times the audio (and even the video this episode!) have dropped out is an absolute joke and the broadcasters (ESPN?) should be embarrassed.

A positive though - this format is absolutely MADE for Tom Kim. What an entertainer!
