Tell us an interesting fact about yourself

For years I hated flying, crapping my self before hand. Now I have no problem and the reason is I’m friends with former double British and multi TT winner Jim Moodie. He had a helicopter and one day I arrived at his house and within a few minutes I was up and away. I didn’t feel comfortable but I didn’t have time to think about it either. Anyway, I’ve been up quite a few times now and its great fun. I’ve flown over to Ireland and I’ve been as far as Glasgow to Silverstone, a fair journey in a helicopter I can tell you.

The down side is a claim to fame that I wish I could reverse. That being I’ve been with Colin McRae in that very helicopter he sadly lost his life in. It is a very, very weird feeling knowing I’ve been in that machine.

I once beat the hairy cornflake , Dave Lee travis , in a game of pool.
I also appeared 3 times in the background of an evening news outside broadcast by driving my BT van 3 times round the West Kensington one way system past Freddie Mercurys house on the day he passed away and they were filming outside.
Famous pople i've nearly run over - Rowan Atkinson - Brian Glover and the closest was Roger Taylor , drummer with Queen . This was in one of the roads just behind Harrods and i was actually oogling a particularly attractive blonde who turned out to be RT's girlfriend at the time and i didn't see him at all . I stopped with Roger approx 2 feet off the end of my vans bonnet

I once had a non-visual, non-verbal part on Blue Peter making the sound of a chainsaw....

And that Rodney Bewes is an ar*e. Always used to ring up his local council (ie me, amongst others) demanding special attention with a "do you realise who I am?" With which it was always a "yep, and it's still no..."

As you may know I was friendly with James Bolam in the 80's when he was a member at Wimbledon Common and it is fair to say that his opinion of Rodney Bewes could not be put on the forum for public digestion

In 2002 my very good friend invited me to spend a day with the 5 live team for the final day's practice at The Open.
I got to meet them all and then walked the course inside "the ropes" Highlight being having a discussion with Tom Watson on the 13th tee about the Scottish weather.

Also bought our house out here off Greg Sommerville the "All Blacks " tighthead prop

I returned to golf as I am on a break from Deep Sea Angling.
I am/was part of Team England, last three yrs we were World Silver medalists twice and World Champions 2006! I have also been the individual European Champion 2003!
Nice to have my life back now though,

I can spin lots of things on my finger.

I can spin a basketbal for virtually as long as i want (or untill my arms get tired)

I learnt to do this when i was grounded, along with juggling three balls!

I marshalled at The Open last year and was seen and heard "Stand still on the path please" on TV on the Saturday whilst standing behind Sergio.
Interesting. How did you get the job and did you get paid?
Hope Garcia didn't take it out on you if the crowd ignored your instructions!

I played poker live in a studio filmed for TV for the Scotland Team in the 2005 Pokerstars World Cup of Poker held in London. We finished 3rd behind Costa Rica (Jammy buggers beat us 3-2 in the semis) and Norway. Wired up to heart monitors I managed to hit 165 beats per minute during a particularly fretful decision versus Jose "The Master" Rozencrantz. Whenever I am in the gym on the cross-trainer and hit 165 bpm, I can't help but remember that moment....

For those who play poker... in the 3rd/4th play off v Austria, we were 2-0 down after 2 games (all games were heads up). We won the next two games to level it at 2-2 and I was the anchor man in the decider. 5 hands in I see AA. Opponent has QQ, all the chips go in and , hey!, Aces stood up. 'twas the shortest game in World Cup history.
