I was driving home last night when my son rang. "Dad, have you bought a new golf bag? Mum is not happy". Bizarrely I had to think for a few seconds before remembering that no, I had not bought a bag. "Well, you have a fancy new bag at home, Taylormade, Red". I had to think and then suddenly, the light bulb moment. I had entered the GM competition, a few of them, and this was the bag used by all TM staffers at the recent USPGA tournament. For The Open the bags were yellow, for this they were red.

A description, huge but lovely. The quality and finish is really stunning. It is an S class of golf bags. The one downside as pointed out by my son, "dad there's one problem with this. When you go to the first tee with that bag everyone will think you are a proper golfer. Then you hit your shot.......". Your kids can be brutal.

It's almost too nice to use. I'm going to keep it indoors with nothing in it for just a little longer.

Thanks to all at GM for arranging the competition.

Very nice, I'd put my clubs in it just to feel how much more it weighted compared to my current bag and for just a moment pretend I was good enough to use a bag like that. Then just keep it in the house on display.

Garush - I haven't checked to see if it fits on my trolley yet. Those tour bags are mighty big. My current bag is quite old and heavy so this is actually not that much different in terms of weight. It may be slightly lighter even. It is certainly heavier than standard, modern cart bags though, I know as I was toying with upgrading in the coming months and I have been checking them out in the usual golf shops.

I think my wife would think my very odd if I just kept it in the house but I did go and purr over it last night on a few occasions when I was claiming to be looking for something.

It looks and feels as though you should be a single figure golfer to have a bag like that. I'm just an imposter.

Can't remember about the stitching. I have a feeling it is white, as per the logo, but I may be wrong.

I won the bananas in a best golf swing competition, I came last. Something about bananas being appropriate as I look as smooth as a monkey swinging a club :D

Regardless I like it. What you going to do with it? Will it go into play? or home club caddie?

Alex - Not sure yet. Frankly, as a bag it is far nicer than I would ever buy or could justify so I may use it as a special present to myself. Alternatively if I were to "move it on" I suspect it could fund a very nice new bag, 52 wedge and still leave plenty over for a takeaway or more. It feels a little wrong to be thinking like that but it is an option. A bit like Everton selling Stones for £50m and buying Guere, Williams and Bolassie with the money. 3 for 1 is tempting. If I do use it then I will use it all the time, if wont be sat on a shelf just to be looked at. At the moment it is back in its wrapper whilst I work out what to do next. Nice problem.

I know. Should I confess I won it in a competition where no skill was involved other than knowing my own address? I think I'll leave it hanging to impress people first of all before breaking into a smile and confessing all.

That's a cracking bag that. Quite loud though. I have a titleist tour bag and I was just saying the other day to my dad how heavy it was, but it goes on the trolley fine. Just use it mate, it's a cracker of bag
