Seems obvious to me that as post#5 says - the rules define when a ball is holed out and hence when the hole is over for the player and hence no subsequent action by the player can change his score for the hole.

Caught? Not really. I think it matters to make sure that no-one goes away from a thread with a misunderstanding even if it's obvious to most of us that the misunderstanding is being put about by someone just being mischievous.
So why have you found it necessary to remind us if the correct ruling if your original interjection was not likely to confuse?Lighten up man! For any still not sure - take the ball out if the hole any way you like....just make sure it's below the lip and at rest....no penalty!!

I would always take the word of a reliable man.
The place for banter is the rest of the forum. Trying (and failing) to be funny in the rules section is merely irritating for us grownups who are trying to learn something
