We've been with Scottish Power for years coz they're the cheapest and we've never had a problem. Now, apparently, they aren't the cheapest and EDF are, and we can save £245.

1. Can I believe the Uswitch prices / savings ?
2. Is switching as easy as they say it is?
3. Are EDF to be trusted? (There are others as cheap but not as big)

HID is off work at the moment (between jobs) and decided to look on USwitch and we could save £253. We've taken the plunge and in the cooling off period after which I think we merely give EDF and our current suppliers a meter reading when asked to and it goes from there. I don't feel EDF are any less trustworthy and our plan is fixed until September 2019

I change almost every time a deal runs out

Can I just remind everyone who changes supplier to check that their last supplier has refunded any money they've held in your account as my last supplier was holding £50 of my cash and wouldn't have refunded it without being asked

Well Crazyface I've experienced the identical issue. Was with Scottish Power for years, great service and App was great. However, money talks so we've gone to EDF for £20 per month less.
Compared through Compare The Market and Confused, both quoted the same. So in the end went with Compare The Market to benefit from 2 for 1 cinema tickets and 2 for 1 meals.

Just make sure you are comparing prices based on actual usage and not monthly payments. Some companies put you on way less to start off with then hike it up.

I've swapped twice now, generally easy and pain free. I'd advise against First Utility - took them 3 attempts over 3 months to set up a direct debit, then got it wrong.

We've got the same saving.

Has anyone else got any advice? Seems a good idea and easy to do.
Paperboy mentioned a website, but I think it's not quite right. The site is called " lookaftermybills". As PB said, it was on dragons den and was given the biggest ever payout. They will automatically give you advice on renewing energy supplier every year. However it is not just based on the lowest price. Quality of supplier is also considered.

1) Yes with a caveat that I will explain below
2) Yes
3) Cant help you there.

Right....now for the caveat I mentioned above....

When you type in your energy use figures into these savings comparators they DO NOT do a direct comparison between your current tariff and the "proposed" tariff. What they do is to assume that your "current cost for comparison" is going to be the cost of your current tariff for the number of months remaining on your plan, plus the cost of your energy suppliers current standard rate for a period to make up a 12 months total. So the closer to the end of your current tariff you find yourself the greater the "apparent saving" will be, because the comparison sites assume that you will do nothing and automatically switch to the standard tariff.

So....yes Tariff XYZ will save you £300 (compared to the do nothing scenario) but in actual fact you could well find that your monthly costs go up compared to what you currently pay.

I have just moved to BULB for both gas and Electricity, i change suppliers every few years to find the cheapest, and this time they were pretty close to the top, they were also a which best buy, plus they use renewable energy. if anyone wants a recommend a friend code PM me, as we will get a £50 credit each.

when comparing, ensure you use your actual energy usage figures in kWh for the comparison, not your monthly DD. This is the only true way to get a true refection of the deals,

I'm about to move to BULB in the next ten minutes...we already have a discount code off the wifes parents though.

Used lookaftermybills a few months ago and it worked a treat. They take care of everything pretty much. See what happens when the renewal comes up

I've just looked at lookaftermybills website but stopped short on the last page where they ask for bank account details.
Why do they need your account number etc. at this stage? Anyone know?
