Swing Speed - Interim Report

If Tim is on the level (and lets face it the original post was ambiguous) then it is an interesting way of trying to get low but it seems more about just hitting 300 yard drives and not about playing which seesm to go against the ethos of playing the game in the first place. I'm sure 300 yard drives (I'll never know) do make it easier but if you putt like an idiot, chip like me and the accuracy of these booming drives are off then single figures and scratch seem a long way off

Yet again one person singled out.

Well stop bleating on about what other people post while always defending what you post and your right to post it.

Again, in case you didn't see it through the red mist....

I have a curious question, if I was to come on here and say I'm going to experiment with my swing to increase my swing speed to be able to hit the ball further would I get the same comments Timmy does?

I only ask because I was thinking about what it is that others see in Tim that would make them say he will not achieve his goal. His age? Physique? Handicap? Amount of time to practise? Coaching?

Well Im 28.
fairly strong and athletic (maybe a little sqwidgy around the edges these days).
play off 8,
have 4-5 days off at a time and I'm always down the club practising.
have ex Ryder cup player and Vice captain Peter Baker available for lessons.

With this in my locker would I be able to achieve Tims goal of scratch golf and be a 300+ driver of the ball??

Note: I'm not in any way, shape or form, going to even attempt to swing it like Tim, it's purely hypothetical and I can already smash it 340y using my putter nevermind my driver ;)

I think the difference is the way you go about it. What we know about Tim is he plays mostly on a short 9 hole par3/4 course which he usually goes round over par, has played once on a full course and went round in +12 or +18 depending on which post you read and has a swing speed in the low 90s. Oh, and he's the biggest hitter at his range and his quest is all about ego.

Yet armed with his new swing speed monitor we are lead to believe that he is going to increase his swing by 20-25mph, start hitting 300yd drives and play of scratch despite demonstrating no golfing pedigree of any sort.

There has been a lot of advice offered to him which he has chosen to ignore. When you read the original post you can't help but think he is on the wind up and he does nothing to deny it.

You yourself already demonstrate an ability to play golf and if you decide you want to hit it longer I'm sure you would get the same words of caution although you seem better equipped and if I had to put money on one of you doing it I know where my money would be.
