Swindled...

Did you put your score in the computer as well as handing in your card ? Most systems have a function to count scores for players entering and not recording a score as NR. Most committees will not reconcile the actual cards returned as we have computers to save work like that. I'd check with the comp secretary as something is clearly wrong.

Although this practice happens, under the Rules of Golf a player should not be disqualified or have an NR for that competition if he fails to enter scores onto a computer.....

Thanks all.

Some interesting suggestions as to why I could have been N/R'd. But all those things you suggested I could/should have done - I did. And we're not sophisticated enough to have to enter the results into a computer. Who'd have thought that putting in a scorecard could be so complicated?

However, I spoke to the club today to find out why and the reason is..... drumroll..... fanfare..... they actually forgot to enter my card into the system!! Profuse apologies from them. Details entered, 36 points - second place on countback. Reee..zult!

(And I thought my partner was being facetious after I blobbed the first two holes, when he said "...you could still win you know...". Damn that missed 2ft tiddler...)
