Was thinking about this today whilst bored at work and staring at the rain from my office...

Which golf shot gives me most pleasure ? You know that inner glow !!

- The 15 foot putt that plops in ?
- The 280 yard drive straight down the middle
- That Bunker shot that leaves a 2 foot putt

For me it has to be a mid iron shot from 140+ yards that stays in the air for ages then lands smack on the green. Wooohooo

It maybe because I consider this part of my game to be screwed at the moment, so when it happens, I am over the moon ?

Whats yours ?

I'll have to go with the drive, right out the middle of the club face ripping down the fairway!

Although, the wedge from 60/70 yards that checks and haults just below the hole leaves the giddy feeling also!!

The Stinger! When i catch a low riser just spot on and it rips through the wind, thats the shot i like best.

Second is the short iron or wedge that lands close and spins back even closer. :) :)

Also, can't beat putting a trouble shot close - through the trees, off a bank, one that seemed impossible and draws a gasp from your partners - love that feeling!

Drives - as long as it goes forwards with some distance and doesn't leave me with a nasty 2nd shot, I really don't care where it lands.

Long fairway shots - generally can't hit them for toffee, so anyone that connects is good.

6,7,8,9,PW,52 and 60 irons - generally the strongest part of my game so I love it when they fall out of the sky and stop on the green with a wacking great pitch mark, but especially when it's somewhere near the flag.

Chips from off the green that go straight into the hole, leaving the flat stick in the bag, done that a few times.

Well what I'm saying I guess is every shot that isn't hooked, sliced, shanked, fatted, thinned, topped or missed!

Well I do play off 24, what do you expect!!

Anythin that goes how i planned it.

Love a good drive down the middle.

For me, i love the sound/feel of taking the perfect divot with a wedge, watching it fly high and drop onto a nice compact green with a little thud!

I don't think you can beat a crisply struck long iron or fairway wood shot. When they leave the clubface with a zip and draw nicely to where you aimed them.

Or, a long, pressure putt where it nestles next to the hole and you can just stroll up to it and knock it in safe in the knowledge you just got away with one!

Haha Wilf, that is what i mostly do, but yeah the ball!

You know when you've hit a good shot because you can feel the divot come away nicely and it sounds so sweet!

Nice long & straight drive for me. Giving you the confidence & setting you up perfectly for the next shot.

Or a nice 235yard 3-wood over water on our par 5 9th to set up an eagle chance (that always ends up a par!).

Everyone I play with hates using a wedge- they all play 7/8 iron bump and run.
I love getting a wedge out and landing it 3 - 6 foot from the flag (or closer), with a great high flight and soft landing - Now just to get this spin back figured out.

Mine would have to be the perfect long, straight drive. I love hitting it knowing its good watching it start and being able to bend down and pick your tee up and walk to your bag knowing exactly where the ball is going, whilst the other members of your group watch the entire flight with their jaws ajar.

I do like a good iron shot also but it doesn't quite give me the same feel good factor, except the one I hit on saturday...a blind shot into a raised green about 158 yards away 40ft below the hole, I hit it perfectly and saw it for the majority of its flight but even thoguh I couldn't see it I knew it was close but was anxious to see how close, and that was a good feeling. Turned out it was 3 feet away, and I missed the birdie putt!
