The Headteacher told me my grandson was a bit upset today.
He had used a bad word and was absolutely mortified when the teacher told him off.
Not like him I said.
Teacher explained the circumstances and said he had used the D word.
Not often we hear that she said.

Good on ya boy swearing in an upper class manner!
I didn't even think it was classified as a swear word these days!

The D word are they having a laugh, have they not heard the foul language used by school children either in the playground or on the bus home. The D word is poetry at the side of that. Had it have been the F,B,C,T, or one of the many others then yes they would have a case but surely a quiet word to the wise would have been the correct course of action without the fuss.

Dunstable?

surely it cant be the slang name for Richard ie Dick as in Dick Van Dyke

what age is the wee fella?

It does depend in what context it was used however as any word can be quite malicious if used correctly:whistle:

He's six.
Could be worse, he could have said dash [is that allowed mods?]

Diaphragm........thats funny!

It's a very good school and I think the teachers found it quite funny.
Seemingly another boy destroyed his 'artwork'.

Yeah, naughty little child for not using the widely acceptable "golly gosh". WE DON'T LIVE IN THE 19TH CENTURY

My daughter is at a fairly strict catholic school and if they call me to say that she had used the word dam then I'd tell them how stupid they were for wasting my time and money. There are more important things to worry about in school time like praising kids for doing well or helping those that are struggling in class.

language that we would class as inappropriate fair enough but a word which I can only describe as "when the child realised something was wrong", ludicrous
