Surrey/Sussex Tour 2016 now open!

I don't think you become a "pro" by exceeding this value, more so you lose your ammeture status... where that puts you I'm unsure, but interesting topic. Where's the GDUK guy that was posting before?

On, another comp detail side note. Does anyone know if they allow DMDs/GPS during the comp? Can't see any info on teh site, but that might just be my eyes...

I know that they used to allow DMDs in the events. Not 100% sure but think they still do. I have messaged Ben to get him to check back into this thread to give a definitive answer.

Hi guys, sorry I haven't been on the forum over the past few days to answer the questions and thanks for Neil alerting me about the discussion currently going on about prizes and DMD's.

To clear it up - DMD's are fine and we have no problem with people using lasers or GPS devices.

To be honest about the overall prize, I don't know is the answer. We have always had big prizes like this for the end of season winners and no one has decided to 'relinquish their amateur status' to claim the prize or have we ever had a problem. I will contact the R&A for an answer for you tomorrow and see what they say. At the end of the day, why can't someone accept the prize, you could argue that we are gifting it to the winner so it has no value in the retail enviroment as it's a one off - however, I'm sure there is a work around as there are many different events that offer prizes with greater value than ours (dubai trips etc).

Sorry I can't be more help on that one, I'm fairly certain many people will attack us and the tour for this fact, but I can only be honest with the answer.

Cheers

Ben
