I'm honest enough to admit I'm not good enough to be a snob about golf, but I do admit to liking the big name brands!

Popped into a shop today, with the idea of trying a new driver. I looked at a few in the sale, the decided to try a Cleveland launcher! Hit it alright, but nothing consistant at all. The guy suggested another driver, he taped it all up and I proceeded to hit balls a lot more consistently! So I'm getting on Wednesday a Nicklaus Golf air draw driver!

I must say, I wouldn't have picked up one of those to try before this!

Anyone got any feedback on Nicklaus Golf?

I use a Nicklaus draw based driver, and am very happy with it,and dont see much differance in distance comparred to my old driver,I am not a big hitter but I can find the fairway consistantly, like you i tried a few and was slicing alot with the others.

I know the draw based drivers to a certain extent masks a swing flaw, but at my age (senior) it saves doing alot of work having lessons, and practicing.

Intrestingly I had a round with my son-in-law recently and used my old Ping driver that I gave him, and I sliced nearly every drive, so allough I can hit the Nicklaus driver straight most of the time, the swing flaw is still in there somewhere.

I remember after only been playing about 2 years, I decided to go buy a new 3 wood.
Went to a big Pro Shop that stocked loadsa Brands
Tried 5 or 6, blind testing ( NO, not blindfolded) The Pro taped the whole sole and shaft decals
I hit away on the practice ground
And lo & Behold........I bought a PROGEN
He ( the Pro ) laughed, and said, he knew Id love that model, said (at that time) their fairways & wedges were very good, but his members were TOO Snobby to even try........

I'm terrible! The fact that this club was draw biased, niggles at me... 'If I start to hit it right, will it hook?', so I went back!

Another 25 mins and 20 balls later, I'm getting. Ping v2 Rapture 12 degree!

I have to say, it was hitting the balls sweetly. So I'm pleases with my change of mind!

I doubt i'll be consistently hitting in 300 yards +, but hey ho!

The change to a 12 degree driver improved my tee shots no end. Previous 10.5 drivers went OK but the 12 degree JPX800 has been a revelation.
