Stupid, stupid, stupid, me!

Driving is probably the strongest part of my game, since I got my Ping Rapture custom fitted I have consistantly found the fairway without any trouble and have always been confident standing on the tee knowing where my Srixon was going to end up.

So why oh why did I pick up a Callaway FT-i 9.5 neutral face driver fitted with a Matrix Ozik shaft? It gets worse, I then took it into the net, got hooked up onto the launch monitor then proceeded to get the debit card out!!!!!

Walked back to the car holding my new toy like a kid with a lollipop. Now that I'm home sitting looking at the Rapture relegated to the corner of my spare bedroom I'm riddled with guilt. I didnt need a new driver, I wasnt even looking for a new driver and I've never been a huge Callaway fan never mind a square headed driver fan so why did I do it??? Think I know now what Vanessa Feltz feels like when she passes a bakery.

The bottom line is the Matrix Ozik shaft retails on its own at £200 and I paid half that for the club so if the worst comes to the worst I think I'll just butcher the club for the shaft.

My stats were also quite impressive in the net.

What were your stats. I know what you mean though. I have a tendency to walk into a pro shop and suddenly find a shiny new stick in my hands (sometimes already taped up before I know whats going on ready for the practice bay) and my card shouting loudly from my wallet.

If you do go for the shaft option I'd get the head etc removed professionaly to prevent any damage. Learn the lesson well about spontaneous purchases or it becomes expensive. Take it from one who knows

I don't think I'd live if I did this!!

All negotiations for shiny new sticks have to be conducted in the manner of trying to take a cake off a rather corpulent child!

It gets me like this too I spend ages stroking putters in AG thinking mmmmmmm

Average of 245 carry and 11 yard dispersion, verly little spin generated and as a result a lower ball trajectory than the Rapture. I was trying to dig out my Rapture stats but I think the wife may have binned them.

Although to be fair I'm sure I was asked/told over 1000 times to put the paperwork away and get it out the kitchen!

Women! Cant live with em..............

New forum sub-section - golf buyers anonymous

Maybe a Ask the Shrink section aswell???

On a serious note,

My stats were also quite impressive in the net

Keep the driver and have two in case one is misbehaving. If you hit both well it wouldn't be to hard a transition.

TC, buyers remorse is one hell of an affliction that thankfully I do not suffer from.

I would like Boabski to be honourary chair of any gear addiction forum section as the guy has had more clubs that Peter Stringfellow.

I've just bought a woodworm top from AG 'cos it was reduced to £12.99. Brown and white stripes.
I don't even like brown.

I have been very good and haven't brought a club in quite a while. However this year a driver, wedges and hybrid are on the list so shops beware (they have been on the list for nearly 6 months but I have restrained myself!)

I have always thought the rapture was an excellent driver though and may get myself fitted for the V2 this year, I can't comment on the FTI though as I've never used it but I have been told it is straight but short- so are you hitting your rapture further?

And as for the impulse purchase your worst mistake has got to be buying it after just hitting it in a net- I would have to see the flight to believe it, a launch monitor in a range bay is essential. I hope you're very happy together though.

We are ten days into 2009 and so far so good. The only golf related purchase was a bag of tees (a necessity). Have avoided all the online sales and the offers in AG. Still early days and I can hear my credit card calling me...
