with driver's costing upto £350 these day's does anyone use a cheeper old driver when at the range. the reason why i ask is a friend of mine has the 910. he has already hit about 3000 balls with it. as a high handicaper he has a few sky marks and scuffs on the toe. to add to this some deep scatches on the sole. i know this doen't effect the preformance but its a shame to trash a nice, expensive and shiny driver. so why not use a sub?

Its always best to practice with what you play with, gets you familiar and you can make some consistency! It would be nice to be able to buy an exact copy of your bag to practice with but it probably is not possible for many :p

It's a weird idea, but not total madness.

I would never hit more than 10 drivers at the range, and would never spend more than £150 on a single club, so my opinion is fairly pointless.

Like my reply. :D :D

I have some 70 year old blades that help me hone ball striking, if I can hit those I can hit anything! The 2 iron is my fav!

That is like askin ole Jenson to take Stirling Moss's car around, gets right back to the core skills!

I do feel it is important to add fun to driving range sessions and the old irons do that. You can pick up old blades, like a 1 or 2 iron, on the cheap at markets and ebay. Throw that in the practice bag for some extra fun!

As a pretty high handicapper myself I'm more than happy to hit my real world driver at the range many times over to generate confidence and feel in the club.

It didn't cost me a massive amount (I wouldn't dream of getting an expensive driver until I'm a bit of a better ball striker) so I'm happy to get value for money by hitting it at the range and on the course until it's worn out! Then I'll get a new one and start again! :)
