Stopping smoking.... Here I go!

I've got one that I picked up from Tesco, will see how it goes. Have looked at the d1 online and might well invest in one if I get on well with the one I have.

Actually a little nervous about it all now!

Keep us posted. I've been on e-lites with jacvapour liquid. Awesome!

Already down from medium to low e-liquid.

Most of the single/trial e cigs are nasty, I don't know about the Tesco one. They seem to be flavoured to appeal to the cheapest taylor-made smoker....

got my 1st appointment at quacks stop smoking clinic tuesday night. gonna give the tablets another whitl. have alan carr's book already so will start that tonight (again)

this will be my umpteenth attempt but the 1st time I am going into it 100% committed and wanting to!

good luck to everyone else

Well... That's it; just had the one ever, all smoking related paraphernalia has been disposed of, and I have my e cigarette at the ready, just invade the cravings get too much. Gonna try cold turkey with this as a bit of crutch, just in case :-)

Hopefully after the three days have passed, the cravings will subside.

I'm going at it 100%, just like G1BBO, and just about to invest in a copy of Alan Carrs book.

Hopefully, I will have enough for some new shiny Vokeys by the end of the month.

Good luck everyone, and keep me posted!

Well, I've passed the first hurdle. Morning routine... Up, coffee, cigarette....

This morning, no cigarette and this is where I normally fall down. I'm going to apologise now for (more than likely) posting in this thread a lot, but its just going to be a way of creating a diversion.

Off to play a round with LouiseA in about an hour so that should create enough of a diversion.

How's everyone else getting on?

I've gone cold turkey, with an e cig in the background, just in case I feel like I am going to betray myself!

I'm reading Allen Carrs book on my iPad as well. It's certainly giving me a lot to think about!

I did the same as you, bought 10 yesterday morning for a round, smoked them all until i was fed up and chucked all my lighters etc out. Whacked a nicorrette on this morning, more as a reminder than anything, got past 10am and was absolutely fine. Just got stuck into work to keep my mind off it. Even got offered 2 fags and said no. When the boss turned up at 5 as i was closing up i was tempted though!

well done chuzzlewit. my last cig will be tomorrow evening. got plenty of munchies and going to start decorating the house wednesday evening. smoking has made me a lazy git. my eating habits are crap (cigs can suppress hunger apparently as well as numb the taste buds)

Like you I will post here daily I reckon as a little e-boost :)

Good luck for tomorrow then G1bbo. I have had a hard day of it. Especially after the 9holes I played with LouiseA this morning. Couldn't hit it straight, get it off the floor, or putt. And the driest bit of my kit after we had finished, was my umbrella, which had been left in the car boot!

Normally would have lit up after that, but managed to abstain. After food seems to be when it's getting me the worst, butim battling through and reading lots of pages of the Allen Carr book!

Im a bit OCD when it comes to cleaning as well, and even I don't think my house has ever been this clean! It's great!

No one NEEDS cigarettes. It's a choice, even if you're addicted.

Tell yourself you don't want to be a slave to it anymore and find yourself something better to do than stand at the back door step every 20 minutes :D

I'd give up myself if I wasn't paying £1 for 20 :p

G1BBO, don't so the munchies.. I don't think I eat any more than I did last year but since giving up in January I have put on 5kg and now need bigger trousers :(

Chuzzelwit, cold turkey is easy but only if YOU WANT TO GIVE UP, reading your posts you seem like it's important so I believe you will suceed. If temptation creeps in think about the new shineys you've promised yourself.

I survived another day today. Much worse than yesterday for some reason but got through it though . Totally agree about being ready for it. I just think of my wee boy and it's easy.I think its about finding something to put it in perspective. It's fags, its pointless, its expensive. There's plenty worse could happen to you than chuckin the tabs. So there

I spent this weeks savings (I've had to borrow from what I haven't not smoked yet (?)), on a lesson this afternoon. Stop smoking, improve my game. Win v win as far as I can see!

just chugging away now, appointment in 40 mins. ALready got my mind set & asked the kids to get rid of the ashtrays etc and open the windows whilst I am out. These damn cancer sticks are going for good!!!!

Feeling inspired I am just sparking up my last one now. Dosed with the cold and it's hitting my chest but the tight git in me can't bring myself to throw them away! This could become a very long thread. Good luck to you guys.

got to pick up a script tomoz for champix. I am setting my quit date as 2 weeks today so the 31/7/12 hopefully the tablets kick in before that. I am already cutting down on coffee and smoked a lot less tonight than normal (cutting out every other one)

My reading on the monitor was 30 which is a very heavy smoker... not good :( (althought tbh I already knew that lol)

lets see what it is in a fortnight and thereafter
