Has anyone had their clubs stolen...? i had everything stolen last year. Unfortunatley i did not have insurance.. This led to me forking out over £2,800.00 on new equipment..

Would like to know anyones elses opinions or if you have been apprached by anyone who has 'dodgy' gear..

I am now still struggling with distances with my new irons and it has taken me over 3 months to get to grips with wedges, woods ect... what a nightmare.. i am just after other peoples experiences?!

On a postive note - i got some new cool gear!! :-)

Welcome to the forum, please feel free to tell us a little about you and your game.

Sorry to hear about this clubs.

I had some irons nicked when I was playing at Bearwood last year, covered by home insurance fortunately. Still a pain having to go and make a police report etc but only cost me £50 excess

had mine stolen from the car at eth back of teh house about 15 years back. Reported to police - no useful response. Spent weeks walking round car boot sales, and kept looking out at golf clubs for ages afterwards. Were a couple of lovely clubs in there i still miss

Why did your home insurance not cover you?

Clubs abandoned outside club house perhaps?

Irrelevant if they're listed on your house hold contents they are covered away from home or at least mine are with Tesco.

We had 2 sets stolen from our garage a couple of years ago. They were covered under our household insurance. Good thing for me was the ones that were stolen were £100 beginner set, under the insurance got a much better set, albeit irons only so had to shell out for driver, woods and putter but worked out alright in the end.

My clubs were in a locker room with secure access when I got my driver stolen. My insurance refused to pay out as they were not in a locker.

My policy stated "all reasonable steps to keep them secure". As my wife was away with the car I could not put them in the boot. I also do not have a locker at my club (still on waiting list). Other than leave them outside I could not take any more reasonable steps to keep them secure but they still did not pay out.

Ironically, if I had just left them outside the thief would have been picked up on CCTV when dipping into my bag and i may have got it back

They are only covered if I have taken reasonable steps to secure them.

Leaving them on the veranda whilst having lunch isn't reasonable. Can't see why they would pay out on this.

Ditto for leaving push bike unlocked outside pub.

Mine were stolen from the locker in our locker room several years back (they got about 40 sets overnight by doing the whole locker room!!!), was covered by the insurance but was a nightmare getting them to agree to let me have custom fit again and get the right shafts rather than just the off the shelf ones. All my current clubs are photographed and catalogued in case it were to happen again to save on the arguments.

Wecome JumpANDrun. Sorry to hear about you stolen clubs.
I doubt any insurer would pay out whether home insured or specialist insurer if the kit was out of sight unless in a locked locker or in the boot of a locked car. We all run the risk each time we play.

I made sure my golf policy specifically covered me for leaving them in my locker in the secure (swipe card access only) locker room. It did and so if anyone breaks in and nabs them I'm covered. Doubt they'd pay up if I left them outside while I went in to change my shoes though.

Long story... My private bank account cover my personal gadgets! so my thinking was dont take personal house because my bank account covers!! i totally forgot about the clubs and so the enevatable happend!...
Car Insurance was a joke! excess and cover was not worth it...

Anyway i now have Golf Plan Executive £90.00 a year and up to £3,000.00 so that should at least cover if it happens again. i aslo got my Pro to verify on letter headed paper from the golf club!

The thing is they are useless to anyone other than me really... i play off 1.1 so my MP37's and tour headed callaway driver with blue X is no good to an average joe!!

Thanks for all the welcomes... looking forward to this comings golf year... well that is when the winter ends!

Welcome fella.

I've no need to ask where in North Kent you're from......

People, he does play off 1 and he's a cracking player but don't believe all this Mizuno blades/Callaway tour driver wibble. He played Howson Hippo irons and a Slazenger driver...... :o
